Michael Bloomberg’s organization Bloomberg Philanthropies is announcing a $600 million gift to the endowments of four historically Black medical schools. Xavier University of Louisiana, which is opening a new medical school, will also receive a $5 million grant. The donations will more than double the size of three of the medical schools’ endowments, Bloomberg Philanthropies said. The four historically Black medical schools are still deciding with Bloomberg Philanthropies how the latest gifts to their endowments will be used, said Garnesha Ezediaro, who leads Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Greenwood Initiative. Dr. Yolanda Lawson, president of the National Medical Association, said she felt “relief,” when she heard about the gifts to the four medical schools.

For years, the US Navy has struggled to complete repairs of its ships on time. To reduce workload at domestic shipyards and keep ships at sea, the US is looking for help overseas. That number has improved, but delays persist amid other challenges at Navy shipyards. Salvor was the first ship repaired in India following the signing of a Master Ship Repair Agreement with L&T Shipyard. "It's all hands on deck within the free world right now, and I think something like that would simultaneously enhance our ability to repair ships more quickly and also be a deterrent in the Pacific."

CNN —Sweet crayon drawings by a very young King Charles III will show a different side to Britain’s royal family when they come up for auction this week. Emma Errington/Hansons AuctioneersIt is thought that Charles drew the crayon and pencil pictures of his parents between 1953 and 1955, when he would have been about 5 or 6 years old. The young prince chose a more sober black and white for his drawing of his father, Prince Philip. There are eight other drawings by the young Prince Charles, as he was at the time. There is also a cartoon-style illustration, thought to have been done between 1954 and 1956, which the young prince drew for his father.
