A Florida man arrested on suspicion of weapons violations on Halloween had a list of targets that included a congressman and locations he associated with Jewish and Black people, prosecutors allege. The Federal Public Defender of South Florida did not immediately respond to a request for comment. A customary walk-through of the home turned up evidence of firearms, including spent shell casings and a homemade target, Anton said. The alleged list of targets includes Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla., as well as locations the writer of the list characterized as draws for Jewish and Black people — a synagogue, a Jewish cemetery, a Jewish sandwich shop and parks and schools that were described using a derogatory term for Black people, according to Anton's filing. One entry on the list said, "Stalk Jewish parks," the proffer said.

During Trump’s first term, Cheung served as director of strategic response. “I am thrilled to have them join my White House as we, Make America Great Again!”The position of White House communications director is separate from the role as White House press secretary, though people have served both roles simultaneously in the past. Both he and another White House communications director, Stephanie Grisham, have since broken from their former boss. Over the years, Mary DeBardelaben reached out to an organization that documented civil rights abuses in the Jim Crow era but without much success. It was stuffed with 69 pages of federal documents detailing Hattie DeBardelaben’s final moments. Mary DeBardelaben keeps a binder of everything she's learned about her grandmother, including this March 1945 newspaper story about her killing. The striking 3D reconstruction of Zosia, as locals nicknamed her, sheds light on the human found in the grisly grave. Archaeologist Dariusz Poliński, who led the team that unearthed Zosia’s remains, said it was a “mind-blowing” moment when he saw the reconstruction by Swedish forensic artist Oscar Nilsson for the first time. During the course of the 17th century, Poland and Sweden fought a series of wars, so Zosia could have been an outsider within her community. “Maybe because of some misfortune or the death of somebody else, they decided to open the grave,” Poliński suggested. A year after discovering Zosia’s grave, the same team found a child’s remains buried in an unusual way.

Pawtucket, Rhode Island AP —For several decades, the cremated remains of more than two dozen American Civil War veterans languished in storage facilities at a funeral home and cemetery in Seattle. The simple copper and cardboard urns gathering dust on shelves only had the name of each of the 28 soldiers – but nothing linking them to the Civil War. While some remains are hidden away in funeral homes, others were found where they fell in battle or by Civil War re-enactors combing old graveyards. The remains of several more Civil War veterans were sent to Maine, Rhode Island and other places where family connections were found. Bruce Frail and his son Ben – both long active in the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War – were on hand for service.

But new research suggests that one English woman convicted of witchcraft and condemned to be hanged may have escaped the noose. Alice Molland – who has long held the tragic record of being the last woman in England to be hanged as a “witch” – was sentenced to death in 1685. In June 1685, Avis Molland – by now widowed – emerges in court records as an informant about a potential revolt, at a time when the Duke of Monmouth was attempting a rebellion against the king. Avis Molland died a free woman eight years later. Worland has spent 18 years unearthing victims’ details, and has successfully campaigned to have memorials to executed “witches” in Colchester and Chelmsford.

The skull was turned back into the police and officials linked this skull to the 1978 report, which renewed the investigation. In 2023, Kane County officials contacted Othram, a Texas company that works on solving cold cases across the country, to assist with further DNA testing. Officials contacted Granger’s great-great grandson, Wayne Svilar, and he submitted his DNA for testing, which was a match, he said during Thursday’s news conference.
