Even Warren Buffett thinks his stock is too expensive

CNN —Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway has over $325 billion in cash on hand. Berkshire Hathaway was a net seller of stocks across its portfolio that quarter and grew its cash-on-hand to record amounts. Berkshire Hathaway’s actions signal to investors that its stock might be overvalued, Cathy Seifert, an analyst at CFRA Research, told CNN. Buffett will repurchase shares when he thinks the price is “below Berkshire’s intrinsic value, conservatively determined,” according to Berkshire Hathaway’s regulatory filings. “All this suggests that Buffett has serious concerns about the economic backdrop and the current state of the stock market,” Mould said in a note.

Warren Buffett took full control of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, a utility giant that it has owned a majority stake in since 1999, but the business has been a drag on the conglomerate. Berkshire bought the stake for $2.37 billion in cash, $600 million in debt as well as a significant amount of Berkshire Class B shares , according to a regulatory filing. Berkshire Vice Chairman Greg Abel, Buffett's designated successor, sold his 1% stake in BHE for $870 million at a much higher valuation just two years ago. The utility arm has been a weak spot for the conglomerate, which has otherwise enjoyed a few outstanding years. "BHE has been under pressure," said Cathy Seifert, Berkshire analyst at CFRA Research.

For years, Jeff Sharp often relied on the same refrain when he came upon an addict. The only reason Bailey wasn’t charged in Hilbert’s murder, Zois told “Dateline,” is because she is dead. A lawyer for Bischoff disputed this account, telling “Dateline” that his client had nothing to do with Hilbert’s murder. Bailey Sharp, 23, was killed weeks after Justin Hilbert's murder. And without that money, the arrangement between Bischoff, Bailey and Serrano fell apart in the weeks that followed.

The Women's National Basketball Association's viewership and attendance boomed during the 2024 season, as the league's popularity soared due to young stars like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. The league's games drew more than 54 million unique viewers, an all-time record, across various networks including Disney 's ABC and ESPN, Paramount Global' s CBS, E.W. Scripps' Ion and NBA TV, among others, according to data the WNBA released on Friday. In addition, WNBA game attendance hit its highest level in 22 years, and grew almost 50% from the 2023 season, according to the league. The number of Republican women in the House has tripled to a record 36, including two nonvoting members. Others involved in the effort to boost GOP women are also hopeful they can reach a new milestone this year. The number of House candidates has dropped overall since 2022, a redistricting year that brought a surge of new candidates. The Center for Women and Politics found the steepest drop was among Republican women. For Stefanik, the effort to recruit more GOP women to run for the House has been a resounding success.

The WNBA has enjoyed some of the fastest growth a sports league has ever seen, thanks in large part to superstar rookies Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. But top WNBA players don't yet have the lofty salaries to match. Once the WNBA season is over, Jones plays a second season in Europe, mainly to complement her salary. The money is allocated from the $75 million the WNBA raised in 2022 from a group of investors. Though the WNBA's success has not yet led to the massive salaries seen in men's pro sports, many in the league believe it's only a matter of time.

WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert late Tuesday night clarified that she’s vehemently opposed to “hate or racism” after her response to a question about social media abuse drew criticism from players in her league. Instead of addressing the matter with a simple message against online hate, Engelbert toasted their rivalry and celebrated that there’s “no more apathy” in the WNBA. "During a recent media interview, I was asked about the dark side of social media and online conversation about WNBA rivalries and race," she wrote on the platform formally known as Twitter. "To be clear, there is absolutely no place for hate or racism of any kind in the WNBA or anywhere else." A convicted serial killer on California death row for murdering a dozen people in the 1980s and ’90s confessed to the 1986 murder of a 19-year-old woman in Los Angeles County, the police announced on Tuesday. William Lester Suff, 70, confessed in May 2022 to stabbing Cathy Small to death and dumping her body on a South Pasadena, Calif., cul-de-sac, where her body was discovered by police on Feb. 22, 1986, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced at a news conference on Tuesday. Why the announcement came more than two years after the confession was not clear. Ms. Small’s body was found in the morning wearing a nightgown, and she died from multiple stab wounds and strangulation, Lt. Patricia Thomas said. Apple stock plunged as much as 11% on Monday on news that Berkshire Hathaway sold about 50% of its stake. Warren Buffett's conglomerate sold about 390 million Apple shares in the second quarter. The decline in Apple shares, which was double the Nasdaq 100's decline of about 5%, came after it was revealed over the weekend that Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway sold about 50% of its Apple stake. According to its second-quarter earnings report, Berkshire Hathaway sold about 390 million Apple shares during the quarter, which is on top of the 115 million Apple shares it sold during the first quarter of the year. This is an opportunity, especially going into what I view as a really historic upgrade cycle for Apple," Ives said.
