This week, the numbers are screaming to go with Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, one of eight quarterbacks averaging more than 300 passing yards a game. This week, I’m riding with Sampson to lead all rushers in yards because he’s facing a Mississippi State defense that’s ranked 124th against the run. Dart’s 515 passing yards and six TDs last week against Arkansas, with a breakout performance from Jordan Watkins, provide more reason for me to stick with my midseason prediction. AdvertisementWeek 10 report cardAs mentioned before, my big victory last week was predicting Dart would lead all QBs in passing yards. I had Clemson covering a 10.5-point spread against Louisville with Cade Klubnik (250-plus passing yards, two TDs) and Phil Mafah (100-plus rushing yards, two TDs) doing work.

Of course not, especially when its comeback came after Florida had to turn to its third-string quarterback. That said, clearly this kind of uneven game — especially from Beck — is unlikely to suffice the next two weeks. The only good news for Beck and Georgia: As much as he’s struggling, they’re still 7-1. As the garbage came down, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian and then other members of the Texas team walked to the corner of the end zone waving their hands and asking students to stop. They were unable to go sideline-to-sideline or downhill as Georgia met Texas with force every step of the way. The second half got dicey, with Georgia giving up two touchdowns on relatively short fields, one after the controversial interception/overturned pass interference, the other after Georgia for some reason squib-kicked the second half kickoff. In the second half, Ewers returned and led a touchdown drive to open the third quarter. Mykel Williams forced a second Ewers fumble with 10:23 left in the game, thwarting a Texas drive in Georgia territory.

2 Georgia to fourth-ranked Alabama might have acted as a de facto knockout game. The College Football Playoff’s expansion to 12 teams this season has left more margin for error for teams with national title ambitions that play in the sport’s four most powerful conferences. But that doesn’t mean the stakes are necessarily lower for Saturday’s meeting of undefeated Southeastern Conference rivals (7:30 p.m. But Georgia also has imperfections, such as its 74th-ranked third-down conversion rate, its 81st-ranked third-down defense and its numerous penalties. Dating to 2008, Alabama has won eight of the last nine games against Georgia.

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe didn’t throw an incompletion until there were just under four minutes left in the second quarter. To this point it’s been Georgia, Texas, Ohio State and everyone else. Backs against the wall, Alabama turned to Milroe and Ryan Williams, whose immediate answer will go down as a legendary moment. It ended with a Beck interception, and turnovers were part of the reason Georgia had to put together an epic comeback. That list consists of Alabama, Texas and Tennessee.

Georgia is favored over Alabama for the fourth straight time Saturday, but another loss would be three losses in those four games. A loss would turn the conversation from “Kirby Smart had a Nick Saban problem” to “Georgia has an Alabama problem.”Alabama beat Georgia in the SEC Championship Game and earned a spot in the College Football Playoff. It certainly was in last year’s SEC Championship Game and likely will be again this weekend. But an Alabama win would elevate his status early in his tenure, so in that regard, there’s a lot to gain. Win or lose, both Georgia and Alabama will come away with things they need to work on.

ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia tight end Brock Bowers and right guard Tate Ratledge have returned from injuries to start for the No. The return of Bowers is especially important to Georgia's hopes of competing for a third consecutive national championship. Bowers missed three consecutive games early in the season following an ankle injury that required surgery. He returned to play in victories over Mississippi and Tennessee before missing last week’s 31-23 win at Georgia Tech with lingering soreness. Georgia didn't wait long to take advantage of Bowers' return.

Carson Beck and Jalen Milroe had to replace big-name quarterbacks at programs with national title-or-bust expectations. His turning point may have come in the SEC opener against South Carolina, when Beck rallied Georgia from a 14-3 halftime deficit to win 24-14. And Milroe has done something even Young couldn't do last season: lead the Tide to the SEC title game. Then Milroe was back, leading the Tide to a perfect SEC season and making their biggest play in the Iron Bowl. Besides the similarities of replacing star passers, Beck and Milroe share another common ground.
