TEL AVIV, Israel — Israel's emergency services are treating dozens of casualties after a truck rammed into a bus as it was dropping of passengers at a bus stop near Glilot military base north of Tel Aviv on Sunday morning. A spokesperson for Israel’s police force said a preliminary investigation indicated that the truck collided with passengers as well as the bus. CNN —Israeli forces entered the compound of northern Gaza’s Kamal Adwan Hospital and opened fire after days of laying siege to the facility, health authorities in the enclave said. The Gaza health ministry and the director of the hospital in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, have told CNN that the Israeli military twice entered the hospital compound over the past 24 hours and fired at parts of the complex. Kamal Adwan is one of three minimally operational hospitals in northern Gaza, and the closest to Israeli military activity in Beit Lahiya and the Jabalya Refugee Camp. Rock guitarist Jake E. Lee was struck multiple times early Thursday in a Las Vegas street shooting, his management said in a statement. Officers responded to the shooting around 2:45 a.m. and found Lee with gunshot wounds, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement. His management said Lee is "fully conscious and doing well" in an intensive care unit and is expected to fully recover. Lee's management said Las Vegas authorities believe the street shooting was "completely random" and took place when Lee was walking his dog early Thursday. A death attributable to antimicrobial resistance was directly caused by it, while a death associated with AMR may have another cause that was exacerbated by the antimicrobial resistance. For this combination – the antibiotic methicillin and the bacteria S. aureus – the number of attributable deaths nearly doubled from 57,200 in 1990 to 130,000 in 2021. The researchers estimated that, in 2050, the number of global deaths attributable to antimicrobial resistance could reach 1.9 million, and those associated with antimicrobial resistance could reach 8.2 million. Harvey Weinstein had heart surgery Monday after he complained of health issues and was moved from a New York City jail to a hospital, a representative for the disgraced movie mogul said. Weinstein, whose 2020 rape conviction was overturned in April, remained in recovery at the intensive care unit at Bellevue Hospital on Monday night, said the representative, Craig Rothfeld. Weinstein was moved from Rikers Island jail to the hospital after complaining that he didn’t feel well and had experienced significant weight gain from medication, Rothfeld said. He underwent pericardiocentesis surgery Monday morning to alleviate a significant amount of fluid from his lungs and heart, Rothfeld said. In July, Weinstein was hospitalized for a “myriad of health conditions” and tested positive for Covid-19 and double pneumonia, his representative said.

I advise children to wear a seatbelt, look both ways before crossing a road and wear a helmet when cycling. We need an evidence-based approach to this public health crisis. We need to invest in Vision Zero programs to fund structural changes, including speed cameras and physical barriers between cyclists and drivers. Cities need to invest in public transit systems.
