A foster care advocate is challenging Rep. Nancy Mace's account that she was "physically accosted" by a man who was arrested at the Capitol on Tuesday. "I think James took that seriously," Hinkle said, describing how they and others watched McIntyre, who co-founded Foster Care Alumni of America’s Illinois chapter, approach Mace after she spoke and reached out his hand. "They shake hands, and James says, 'Trans youth are also foster youth, and they need your support.' She just sort of made, like, almost like a tiny shock face, and then she left the room.”Lisa Dickson, another former foster youth and advocate, said Tuesday on Facebook that she was disappointed in Mace. Foster Care Alumni, Capitol Police and a spokesperson for Mace’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment Wednesday night.

PANAMA CITY (AP) — Protesters blocked streets across Panama on Monday, demanding the government rescind a contract to continue copper mining in a biodiverse region. Across Panama City, peaceful protesters handed out fliers, but in some areas on the outskirts of the capital police met protesters with tear gas. The government used social media to highlight the “enormous contribution” the mine — Panama's largest private investment ever — makes to the country's economy. Minera Panama says the mine will employ thousands of Panamanians and that its shipments make 80% of the country's total exports. The new contract, initially slowed by labor disagreements, secures Panama at least $375 million a year from Minera Panama, over 10 times more than the previous deal.

A Proud Boy wants to dismiss his seditious-conspiracy case based on Tucker Carlson's Jan. 6 footage. The DOJ responded on Sunday that all of the footage was already provided during discovery. Elon Musk previously suggested there was a miscarriage of justice by jailing the "QAnon Shaman." Chansley's former attorney, Albert Watkins, also said that he had not seen the footage aired on Carlson's show, The Washington Post reported. "In the weeks prior to the plea repeated requests were made to make sure we had all the video footage," Watkins wrote in an email.
