A federal judge on Tuesday ordered prosecutors to get rid of copies of 19 pages of notes taken from Sean "Diddy" Combs' jail cell after his lawyers argued the seizure violated attorney-client privilege. Judge Arun Subramanian ruled Tuesday that the court will keep the papers while prosecutors and Combs’ lawyers submit briefs on the issue over the next few weeks. The music mogul has denied both the charges as well as prosecutors' allegations that he’s tampering with witnesses from jail. At Tuesday's hearing Combs, 55, who wore olive prison clothing garb, appeared to have lost weight since his last court appearance. But the decline in support for Ms. Harris in some of the country’s most liberal areas is particularly notable. Talmika Bates will receive $967,000 from the city of Brentwood, located about 60 miles east of San Francisco in Contra Costa County, her attorneys announced Friday. The woman required more than 200 stitches in her head, tissue rearrangement and laceration repair. WASHINGTON — Republican senators are preparing for a robust vetting of Matt Gaetz, President-elect Donald Trump's pick to lead the Justice Department, with a keen interest in details from a House Ethics Committee investigation into the former congressman from Florida. The Ethics Committee has jurisdiction only over sitting House members. Many Republican senators, including members of the GOP-led Judiciary Committee that will oversee Gaetz’s nomination for attorney general, said they'll want to see the details of the House Ethics investigation into Gaetz. But Gaetz's resignation complicates things, and the House committee hasn't indicated what it will do. Asked directly if he'd vote to confirm Gaetz, Cramer said the Florida congressman would have to make it through the Judiciary Committee first.

Calmer winds helped California firefighters battle the once out-of-control Mountain Fire on Friday as they continued to defend homes from the destructive blaze, officials said. Evacuation orders have been lifted for at least two communities near the Mountain Fire in Ventura County, sheriff’s Sgt. Ventura County Fire Department firefighters work to extinguish hotspots at a home that was destroyed in the Mountain Fire, in Camarillo, Calif., on Friday. A fast-moving wildfire in Southern California that has grown to more than 14,000 acres prompted a Ventura County university to cancel classes and temporarily suspend campus operations as authorities struggle to get the blaze under control. Injuries were reported and homes were threatened in a Southern California wildfire that began Wednesday and, fueled by high winds, rapidly grew to over 10,000 acres, officials said. B&J Drive - InThe fire began at 8:51 a.m. local time, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said. High winds prevented fixed-wing aircraft from helping fight the fire, the Ventura County Fire Department said. The fire jumped State Route 118 and part of it was closed due to fire on both sides of the freeway, the California Department of Transportation said. Smoke was also limiting visibility and slowing traffic on the busy 101 freeway, south of the state route, the department said on X.
