Thursday brought more negative news from the jobs market: unemployment insurance claims for the week ending July 27 were up by 14,000 from the previous week to 249,000. Stepping back from last week's weak data, chief investment officers and top strategists say the market is overreacting, and they're using this as a buying opportunity. CNN —The Nasdaq-100 index is getting a fresh look. What happened: The index comprises 100 of the largest non-financial companies listed on the Nasdaq. Seven companies listed in the Nasdaq-100 accounted for roughly 51% of the index as of June 3, according to a note by Louis Navellier, chairman of Navellier & Associates. The Nasdaq is looking to fix that problem – without changing any of the stocks in the index. Nasdaq won’t remove or add any stocks to the index during this rebalance, according to the release.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The seizure of more than 660,000 counterfeit Adderall pills containing methamphetamine has led to charges against one man, federal authorities in Rhode Island announced Monday. It is believed to be the largest seizure of methamphetamine-laced fake Adderall pills in the U.S., as well as among the largest seizures of methamphetamine in DEA New England Field Division history, he said. “The quantity of methamphetamine represented by this seizure — methamphetamine that was packaged, prepped and ready to flow out onto the street to devastating effect on our communities — is staggering,” Cunha said. Officials believe the methamphetamine originated in Mexico, according to Brian Boyle, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New England office. “With the potency of these fake pills, it only takes one pill to ruin your life,” he said.
