CVS Health , UnitedHealth Group and Cigna sued the Federal Trade Commission on Tuesday, claiming that the agency's case against drug supply chain middlemen over high insulin prices in the U.S. is unconstitutional. The FTC's in-house administrative process initiates a proceeding before an administrative judge who would hear the case. FTC commissioners then vote on that opinion. The Tuesday complaint argues that the FTC's process violates the companies' due process rights under the Fifth Amendment. The complaint comes a month after CVS, UnitedHealth Group and Cigna demanded FTC Chair Lina Khan and two other commissioners recuse themselves from the agency's in-house suit.

AdvertisementX has added Twitch as a defendant in a suit accusing advertisers of colluding to withhold ad spend. Ad revenue on X has plummeted since Elon Musk acquired the platform in 2022. Elon Musk's X is suing Twitch, alleging that the Amazon-owned video streaming platform and other companies illegally conspired to boycott advertising on the platform formerly known as Twitter. Twitch, X, and the WFA didn't immediately respond to requests for comment made by Business Insider outside normal US business hours. Musk's own behavior on and off the platform — including famously telling advertisers who boycotted X to "go fuck yourself" — hasn't encouraged advertisers to place their budgets there, either.

Kennedy will likely have some influence over who the president-elect chooses for those roles, health policy experts said. Ultimately, Kennedy's influence over immunization policy could lead to an increase in diseases preventable by vaccines, several health policy experts told CNBC. Investors are already bracing for a crackdown on food policy, with shares of processed food companies, such as Pepsi and Coca-Cola , falling on Friday. Seigerman said "there is little precedent in recent history for HHS policy dictating or affecting FDA regulation or approval of drugs." The US Department of Health and Human Services secretary has a massive platform and huge power to influence the information that Americans have and the choices they make. “I guess if you like health and you like people who live a long time, it is the most important position,” Trump said. Christina House/Los Angeles Times/Getty ImagesAnother health expert and former US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention acting director condemned the pick. The Indiana man charged in the 2017 killing of two middle school girls was convicted of murder Monday, NBC affiliate WTHR of Indianapolis reports. The jury’s decision came after a four-week trial in which Richard Allen, 52, pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the Feb. 13, 2017 slayings of close friends Abigail Williams, 13, and Liberty German, 14. “Richard Allen is the ‘bridge guy.’ He kidnapped them and later murdered them. CNN —Richard Allen has been found guilty of two counts of murder and two counts of felony murder in the highly publicized Delphi murder trial, according to CNN affiliate WTHR. Delphi law enforcement have long held they believe the “Bridge Guy” shown in the video is the main suspect in the case. Prosecutors drew attention to the .40-caliber unspent round found by the girls’ bodies, which a prosecution expert testified matched Allen’s pistol. The prosecution has also tried to match Allen with the video and audio recording of the “Bridge Guy” captured on Libby’s cellphone. “Richard Allen is ‘Bridge Guy,’” McLeland told jurors.

Jurors will deliberate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday until they reach a verdict, according to WTHR. Last month, 16 Allen County residents were selected to serve on the jury, including four people serving as alternates, WTHR said. “I believe the evidence is firmly convincing that Richard Allen is Bridge Guy and he killed Abby and Libby,” McLeland told the jury. Prosecutors drew attention to the .40-caliber unspent round found by the girls’ bodies, which a prosecution expert testified matched Allen’s pistol. He also pointed out that Allen still lived in Delphi for more than five years after the girls were killed.

The Food and Drug Administration on Thursday proposed ending the use of a common ingredient found in many popular over-the-counter cold and allergy medications. The agency said an extensive review of available data determined that the ingredient, oral phenylephrine, doesn't actually relieve nasal congestion. The FDA said the proposed order is not based on safety concerns and not final yet, which means companies can still market over-the-counter drugs containing oral phenylephrine for now. Last year, CVS said it has already moved to pull certain medicines containing oral phenylephrine. The designation, typically used for older medicines, allows drugmakers to include an ingredient in over-the-counter products without the need to file an FDA application.

Some health experts said elevating Kennedy, even in an informal Trump administration position, could potentially lead to severe consequences for patients, drugmakers and the nation's public health overall. That could exacerbate the nation's existing public health challenges, such as declining childhood vaccination rates for several preventable diseases, some experts say. "I think we could reasonably predict that there would be a decline in vaccination rates among children, and perhaps vaccination overall." Drugmakers such as Pfizer and Moderna are still recovering from falling Covid vaccination rates in the U.S., which have dented their profits over the last two years. Kennedy's other proposals for overhauling federal health agencies will likely be difficult to execute.
