Fitch defined red states as those that voted for former President Donald Trump in 2020 by more than three percentage points. “The reality is manufacturing was migrating to those states even before the CHIPS Act and the IRA. Relative to the size of their state economies, Arizona, Idaho and West Virginia are the biggest winners from the IRA and CHIPS Act investments, according to Fitch. New York leads blue state winnersNone of this is to say blue states aren’t benefiting from the IRA and the CHIPS Act. Micron cited the tax credits in the CHIPS Act as well as incentives provided by New York state aimed at luring semiconductor companies.

South Korea's S&P manufacturing purchasing managers' index recorded its first expansionary reading since June 2022 at 51.2 in January, up from 49.9 in December. "The health of the South Korean manufacturing sector registered a renewed improvement at the start of 2024. Growth was reportedly reflective of increased domestic and international orders, particularly for new products," Bhatti added. These private PMI surveys are typically seen as one of several leading indicators of economic activity in the respective economies.

REUTERS/Evelyn Hockstein/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsWASHINGTON, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Five Republican senators led by Marco Rubio on Friday asked President Joe Biden's administration to ban travel between the United States and China after a spike in Chinese respiratory illness cases. In recent months, the United States and China have been steadily increasing flights between the countries, that are still far below 2019 levels. The United States lifted the unprecedented travel restrictions for fully vaccinated international visitors starting in November 2021, including from China. The United States rescinded a separate requirement air travelers test negative before arriving in June 2022. The United States in January started requiring air passengers to get negative COVID tests after Beijing's decision to lift its stringent zero-COVID policies and lifted the requirements in March.

DENVER (AP) — President Joe Biden will try to turn Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado into the embodiment of Republican opposition to his agenda as he visits her congressional district on Wednesday. Biden plans to tour CS Wind, the world’s largest facility for wind tower manufacturing, in the town of Pueblo. The White House said the data indicates that Biden's policies are expanding economic opportunity. Biden also said Republicans want to cut Social Security and Medicare, benefits that are crucial for many elderly Americans.

REUTERS/Evelyn Hockstein Acquire Licensing RightsDENVER, Nov 29 (Reuters) - President Joe Biden will tout his economic and clean energy policies on Wednesday in Colorado while taking on right-wing Republican U.S. lawmaker Lauren Boebert, a close ally of former President Donald Trump. Biden, who blamed Trump at a fundraising event in Denver on Tuesday for taking away women's right to an abortion, will visit a wind tower manufacturer in Pueblo, part of Boebert's congressional district. Biden, a Democrat running for reelection next year, has presided over a stronger-than-expected U.S. economy and big federal investments in infrastructure and clean energy, but the clean energy industry is now struggling with high costs. At the wind tower manufacturer, Biden will speak about clean energy investments and "highlight how self-described MAGA Republicans like Representative Lauren Boebert are threatening those investments, jobs, and opportunities," the White House said.
