A refuge for first responders and cleanup crews weary after long days rescuing storm victims or clearing wreckage left by Hurricane Milton. But Milton showed no mercy during its deadly rampage across Florida, shredding the roof of Tropicana Field – a Major League Baseball stadium turned makeshift shelter for storm personnel. Drone footage above Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg shows the dome's shredded roof and cots for first responders. “And you could see it just had no chance against those winds of Hurricane Milton.”Hurricane Milton ripped off much of the roof of Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Bay Rays. Ron DeSantis said Tropicana Field would be used as a 10,000-person base camp for debris cleanup operations and first responders.

And the day-to-day weather conditions near Mount Ruang – things like temperature, clouds and rain – probably won’t be influenced by the volcano for long, Huey told CNN. Mount Ruang, a 2,400-foot (725-meter) stratovolcano on Ruang Island in Indonesia’s North Sulawesi province, has erupted at least seven times since Tuesday night, the country’s volcanology agency said. Mount Ruang spewed lava and and ash on April 17, seen from Sitaro, North Sulawesi. Once in the stratosphere, sulfur dioxide and water vapor combine to form sulfuric acid aerosols that create a layer of hazy droplets, according to UCAR. In 1991, Mount Pinatubo – another stratovolcano – erupted in the Philippines and produced the largest sulfur dioxide cloud ever measured.

CNN —A judge has proposed that Spain’s former soccer boss, Luis Rubiales, should stand trial for giving an unwanted kiss to star forward Jennifer Hermoso after the national team’s 2023 Women’s World Cup victory, the National Court press office in Madrid said in statement Thursday. Rubiales had described the kiss as “mutual” – a claim Hermoso has denied, saying she did not consent and was not respected. Rubiales resigned as RFEF president last September following weeks of pressure and now faces potential prosecution over his alleged actions. After that, the judge could issue an order to send the case for trial, which – if it occurs – would be held before a panel of three other judges at the National Court, the court spokesperson added. Hermoso was the last to testify in the investigation phase, appearing before the judge last January 2.

New York CNN —After the Federal Reserve raised interest rates in July to the highest level in 22 years, Wall Street’s focus is on whether September will bring another rate hike. But does it really matter whether the Fed raises or pauses rates next month? Before the Bell: Does it matter whether the Fed raises rates in September by another quarter point or holds steady instead? And, that earnings can grow even in an environment where interest rates are back to levels that they have been in for the past couple of decades. Year-over-year comparisons should improve, but I think investors want to see that.
