CNN —A House Republican is pushing to ban transgender women from women’s restrooms at the US Capitol, two weeks after history was made with the election of America’s first out transgender person to Congress. South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace on Monday introduced a resolution to amend the rules of the US House of Representatives less than two months before Democratic Rep.-elect Sarah McBride, a Delaware state senator, is sworn-in in January. “Sarah McBride doesn’t get a say. But on the trail, she did allude to a broader theme of respect — specifically, that everyone deserves a member of Congress that respects them and their families. CNN’s Arit John, Jack Forrest and Karina Tsui contributed to this report.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who suggested at a town hall with former President Donald Trump last month that the vice president doesn’t have anything to keep her humble because she doesn’t have biological children. “I feel sorry for her, and I’m going to tell you why,” Harris said on an episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast released Sunday. “Because I don’t think she understands that there are a whole lot of women out here who one, are not aspiring to be humble. Family comes in many forms, and I think that increasingly, all of us understand that this is not the 1950s anymore,” Harris said. Harris added: “This is the same guy that said women should be punished for having abortions.

CNN —A fired-up Vice President Kamala Harris adopted a rapid-response mentality to seize on the key issue of abortion rights this week. Harris’ strength on abortion rights is built on key groups that she hopes will show up in droves for her on Election Day. Among Black voters, 83% trust Harris, and among Hispanic voters, it was 63%. CNN —Vice President Kamala Harris has chosen Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota as her running mate, elevating the former teacher and Army National Guard veteran to join the Democratic ticket and help lead the party’s fight to defeat Donald Trump. The vice president held in-person interviews with Walz, Shapiro and Kelly on Sunday. In March, Walz accompanied Harris when she became the first sitting vice president to visit a clinic that performs abortions. During recent remarks at a “White Dudes for Harris” fundraiser, Walz made a rough-and-ready case for the vice president before would-be small-dollar donors.

The president noted he overwhelmingly won Democratic primaries, which is why nearly all of the convention delegates are currently considered to be pledged to him. Biden is correct that the Democrats’ rules allow delegates to vote for the candidate of their choice. She told me how the process of replacing Biden would work considering nearly all of the 3,949 pledged convention delegates are currently pledged to support him. Sort of legally, according to party rules, he could be replaced anytime up to the roll call at the convention. Party leaders may yet carry on with the plan as a way to squash questions about Biden.

Biden and Trump win Michigan primaries
  + stars: | 2024-02-27 | by ( Eric Bradner | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +6 min
CNN —President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump won their respective parties’ primaries in Michigan on Tuesday. “We demand President Biden to take action now – bring a permanent ceasefire,” said Layla Elabed, the campaign manager for the group. The Michigan primary was moved up near the front of the Democratic presidential nominating calendar this year. Biden defeated Trump in Michigan by about 150,000 votes four years later. After Democrats, who control the state Legislature and the governor’s office, moved the Michigan primary to February 27 despite the Republican opposition, the RNC and Michigan GOP came up with the hybrid model.
