Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan on Wednesday scheduled oral arguments in Maxwell's appeal for March 12 before a three-judge panel. Prosecutors countered that Maxwell's appeal had no merit. Nathan was elevated to the 2nd Circuit from the U.S. District Court in Manhattan after being assigned Maxwell's criminal case. The appeals court may take at least a few months to rule.

U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan announced the decision at a hearing in federal court in Manhattan, less than two months before the scheduled October fraud trial. He rejected a defense request to delay Bankman-Fried's detention pending appeal of the bail revocation. Bankman-Fried has been largely confined to his parents' Palo Alto, California, home on $250 million bond since his December 2022 arrest. Kaplan said he was concerned that Bankman-Fried showed the writings to the reporter during an in-person meeting at his parents' home. JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon will be deposed in late May over two days for civil lawsuits accusing the giant bank of benefitting from sex trafficking by the late money manager Jeffrey Epstein, a source told CNBC's Eamon Javers on Wednesday. The government of the U.S. Virgin Islands and one of Epstein's accusers are suing JPMorgan in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.
