Comcast is expected to announce a plan Wednesday to spin off its cable networks into a separate company, two people familiar with the matter told NBC News. Comcast had announced during its quarterly earnings call in October that it was considering spinning off its cable networks. Bravo will remain part of Comcast’s NBCUniversal because its content is heavily featured on Peacock, CNBC reported. Comcast Chairman and CEO Brian Roberts will have a voting position in the new entity, but he won't be on the board of directors, CNBC reported. Executive Vice President Adam Miller will become NBCUniversal’s chief operating officer, CNBC reported.

One of the country's biggest cable TV companies doesn't want its cable networks anymore. That's the pitch Comcast is making Wednesday as it announces plans to split off almost all of its cable TV networks into a new company. Into the spinco goes every cable network Comcast owns except for Bravo. For the record: Comcast says it thinks the cable networks it is ditching can be successful on their own. And as I said last month: Comcast is getting rid of its basic cable networks for the same reason everyone who owns basic cable networks would like to get rid of their cable networks.

Kraft Heinz, the company that produces Lunchables, announced Tuesday that it will remove the meal kits from the National School Lunch Program. “We’re pleased that Heinz Kraft has pulled Lunchables from the school lunch program,” Brian Ronholm, director of food policy at Consumer Reports said in a statement. “The USDA should maintain stricter eligibility standards for the school lunch programs so that the millions of kids that depend on it get the healthier options they deserve.”The National School Lunch Program –– a federally assisted program that provides low-cost and free nutritionally balanced lunches to students –– serves nearly 30 million kids, according to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service. Sodium levels in the school lunchesTwo types of Lunchables were brought into the school lunch program last year: Turkey & Cheddar Cracker Stackers and Extra Cheesy Pizza. A helicopter that crashed into a Houston radio tower Sunday, killing all four people aboard and starting a fire below, was on an air tour flight when the accident occurred, the National Transportation Safety Board said Monday. The Robinson R44 helicopter struck the tower and crashed at around 7:51 p.m. Sunday, said the NTSB, which is investigating. The helicopter took off from Ellington Airport, which is in Houston, the NTSB said. Multiple people died as a helicopter crashed into a radio tower in Houston on Sunday. ☆ Universal's Epic Universe theme park set to open in May 2025

Universal 's Epic Universe theme park will open its gates on May 22, 2025, in Orlando, Florida. First announced in 2019, Epic Universe represents the single-largest investment Comcast's NBCUniversal has ever made in its theme parks business and in Florida overall, CEO Brian Roberts said at the time. Epic Universe will be anchored around the Loews Hotels' Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a 500-room property that will have a dedicated entrance to the park for hotel guests. This first phase of tickets will allow guests to purchase three-, four- or five-day admission to Universal's Orlando Resort, with one-day admission to Epic Universe. Additionally, annual passholders will have the chance to buy single-day tickets to Epic Universe on Oct. 24 before they go on sale to the general public.

Comcast CEO Brian Roberts chose Shell to replace Steve Burke as NBCUniversal CEO in 2019. Soon, Shell, 59, will be at the helm of Paramount and paired with Ellison, who has already expressed his desire to transition Paramount into a more modern media company. The essay that week was about a man who had injured himself in a fall.When he awoke from his coma, he asked for the essay’s writer, his ex. He had forgotten they had broken up. CNN —The San Diego Padres hit a record-tying six home runs Sunday night to smash the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-2 in a Major League Baseball playoff game marred by fans in Dodger Stadium throwing what appeared to be baseballs, and then trash, at Padres players.
