Vance, who is expected to hold a campaign event in Pennsylvania later Wednesday, will meet with Rogan at his podcast studio in Austin, Texas. Though this will be his first appearance on Rogan’s show, Vance has appeared on dozens of podcasts since joining the Republican presidential ticket. Last week, the senator sat for two separate podcast tapings — Theo Von and Tim Dillon — for a combined nearly four hours of content. The Trump interview episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience” has already garnered over 37.5 million views on YouTube alone in less than a week. The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to Rogan’s post.

CNN —Vice President Kamala Harris will give a speech on reproductive freedom in Texas on Friday, according to a senior Harris campaign official. And Texas was chosen as the location for the rally, campaign officials said, because it’s the epicenter of abortion bans. Before her ascension to the top of the Democratic ticket, Harris was the go-to voice on abortion rights for the then-Biden campaign. The trigger law passed in 2021 took effect after the Supreme Court overturned federal abortion rights in June 2022. While in Houston, Harris will join Democratic Senate nominee Rep. Colin Allred, who seeks to oust incumbent GOP Sen. Ted Cruz, for a get-out-the-vote effort.

CNN —Beyoncé will appear alongside Vice President Kamala Harris at a rally Friday in Houston, a person familiar with the planning tells CNN, the first joint appearance with the music icon whose anthem has been the soundtrack of the Harris campaign. The appearance, in which Beyoncé will appear with Willie Nelson, is designed to be one of the biggest closing acts of the campaign. Beyoncé all but gave her endorsement to Harris months ago, giving her permission to use her song “Freedom” as her official campaign anthem, CNN first reported in July. At one point, rumors of Beyoncé appearing at the Democratic convention threatened to overtake Harris’ acceptance speech. During her remarks, the vice president is expected to warn of the threat a second Trump term poses to women’s reproductive freedom.

The experience of shame is so intense and visceral that I can't always pinpoint exactly what is going on. "Sweetie, what you're going through is not your fault. I know I'm not the only person on the planet who experiences it, but when shame consumes me, I feel uniquely worthless.

I created a therapist ChatGPT chatbot with all my background information when I talk to it. ChatGPT helped me get information about the cycles of abuse and how textbook some of my behaviors and reactions were. Prior to using ChatGPT, I wasn't able to open up about my trauma even though I tried to. I talked about leaving with my friends all the time, but ChatGPT helped me realize the techniques we were trying in my relationship weren't working. Typically, I'll spend 15 or 30 minutes with my ChatGPT therapist because I write quickly.

This is known as child-focused parenting, a style devised in the 90s that has become the norm in the last decade. Gaskins isn't the only psychology professional against child-focused parenting. Ironically, child-focused parenting teaches kids that it's normal to forego your identity and boundaries. The best way to find out what you're good at is to ask other people, says organizational psychologist Adam Grant. Reach out to 15 to 20 colleagues, family members, and friends, and see if they'll share stories of when you were at your best. The activity, created by researchers from Harvard Business School and the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business, helps you see yourself "through the eyes of others." It's one of the rare ones that I love as much with undergrads as I do with CEOs," Grant said. "In my experience doing it, people can't anticipate what their strengths are in other people's eyes and so it turns out we have positive blind spots, not just negative ones."

Sometimes, Brené Brown starts meetings by asking attendees a simple question: How are you feeling, in two words? The two-word version prompts honest answers and encourages people to see each other as humans first, co-workers second, said Brown. Common answers include "anxious" and "tired," or someone describing their mentality as "vacation brain," she added. If someone says they're anxious and overwhelmed during a meeting, for example, Brown said she'll thank them for sharing before moving on to the next person. Then, after the meeting, she'll inquire about how the person is doing.

You might think being hard on yourself after a professional or personal faux pas will help you to not make that same mistake in the future. Oftentimes this isn't the case, though, says Judy Ho, a neuropsychologist and professor at Pepperdine University. New York Times bestselling author and a professor at The University of Houston, Brené Brown echoes the sentiment that being excessive self-scrutiny doesn't make you stronger. "The core of mental toughness is actually self-compassion," Brown said on her podcast "Unlocking Us" in 2022. "People who are mentally tough stay mentally tough because they don't slip easily into shame or self-criticism or self-loathing."

"People who are mentally tough stay mentally tough because they don't slip easily into shame or self-criticism or self-loathing." Instead of rushing to recover from a tough situation, give yourself time to feel your emotions, psychologist Cortney Warren wrote for CNBC Make It last year. "A key component of resilience is emotional flexibility, or the ability to regulate your feelings and reduce their intensity in a given situation," wrote Warren. 'No'Imagine this: You're dealing with your jam-packed work schedule when a colleague asks you to help them finish an assignment. Don't feel guilty for putting yourself first and saying no, according to psychologist Jessica Jackson.

Almost one-third, 30%, of Americans say they have experienced feelings of loneliness once a week during the last year, according to a January 2024 poll by the American Psychiatric Association. In a recent conversation, professor and researcher Brené Brown and Belgium American psychotherapist Esther Perel identified a possible culprit for these feelings of isolation: social media. "When I went off social media for a year, it was one of the best things that ever happened to me," says Brown, who hosts the podcast "Unlocking Us." Being off Instagram and Twitter made her better able to invest in real life conversations. "If we believe that time and energy and focus are finite, when you live in that world online something is going to give in your real life," Brown says.

So I set about trying to diet and I suppose it was a bit of a control thing. AdvertisementI just did diet after diet and the mad thing is that I never really had weight to lose in the first place. AdvertisementA nutrition degree didn't stop me from doing fad dietsWhen I was 22, I was so obsessed with nutrition that I decided to go and do a degree in it. I could write a meal plan for someone to lose weight, but I now know it's never about being told. It really got me into thinking there's got to be a better way to either sustainably lose weight and keep it off or get out of that mindset that you even need to lose weight in the first place.

Every small child gets anxious sometimes. But when your kid is panicking, there's a common two-word phrase you should never utter: Calm down. That's according to Rachel Romer, CEO and co-founder of education assistance benefits company Guild, who's a mom to two children. Saying "calm down" doesn't validate the child's emotions or help them understand their feelings, and can even unintentionally come across as dismissive, they said. The trio recommended two exercises to help children better manage their heightened emotions.

The best way to be vulnerable is to share without relying on others to respond in any certain way. Many leaders say they embrace vulnerability because it allows them to connect with colleagues and team members on a deeper level. Vulnerability scripts attempt to "hotwire" connectionInterpersonal connections aren't made overnight, and that's why a vulnerability script doesn't usually have the intended effect. A vulnerability script has one hallmark quality: people don't buy it. Instead of trying to force listeners to play along with a vulnerability script, you're presenting an authentic (and yet not unfiltered) side of yourself.
In Lahey's eyes, the worst thing about New Year's resolutions isn't the fact that we "fail" to fulfill them. "It's like people drink the Kool-Aid, [and think] 'If I really intend to make this goal happen, and I can't, I'm a loser. "I think it's just a profound loss of human energy." "But the thing that really got her attention was [when] she said 'I consistently say 'yes' to the one-off [meetings]," Lahey added, which was contributing to Brown's sense that meetings were a waste of time. Unlearning our assumptionsLahey says that when she walks people through their own "Immunity to Change" roadmap, the final column is "almost always" unrelated to the column one, much like Brown's.
Finding the time, or motivation, to read a 300-plus page book after an exhausting workday is no easy feat. "There is so much valuable knowledge you can learn from books and put into practice in your own life …. Many of the world's most successful business leaders, from Bill Gates to Warren Buffett, are proud bibliophiles, citing reading as an important habit for sparking creativity and broadening your understanding of the world. Gates said that Gallwey's insights "subtly affected" how he showed up to work throughout his career at Microsoft. This "is an outstanding book about CEOs who excelled at capital allocation," Buffett wrote in his 2012 letter to shareholders.
Just ask organizational psychologist Adam Grant and leadership researcher Brené Brown. "I grew up thinking I was completely uncreative," Grant said. "All of a sudden, it was 'conform, conform, conform,' which aligns with the research we see on shame and creativity in kids happening ... in middle school. For middle school girls especially, the so-called "confidence drop" can be precipitous: Research shows girls' confidence levels drop by 30 percent between the ages of 8 and 14. Brown and Grant got out of their respective creativity ruts by using the same tactic, they said: looking for patterns around them.

"From Scratch," Brown says, is a reminder that vulnerability is a tool that can make us stronger even in the toughest circumstances.
