The guidelines apply to autonomous vehicles for passengers including taxis as well as for freight transportation, the Ministry of Transport said in a statement. They also require companies using autonomous vehicles for public transport to be qualified and licensed and state that companies can work together with automakers on such operations. In October, it issued guidelines for highway engineering facilities to support autonomous driving technology.

In October, JAC put up for sale the assets at the two plants, known as F1 plant and F2 plant where Nio has been producing its EVs. Regulators allowed Nio to produce and sell EVs in China via the collaboration with JAC in 2018 through which Nio paid JAC commission fees on each car it produced. Nio ranked ninth in terms of sales of EVs and plug-in hybrids in the first 10 months in China with 126,067 units, according to data from China Passenger Car Association.

That marked the biggest fall since December 2022 when Tesla's sales of China-made EVs fell 21% on the year as the U.S. automaker reduced output and cut prices to deal with rising inventories and weakening demand. Xi expressed his support for Tesla's development in China, the automaker said in a Weibo post. Li Auto (2015.HK) last month said mass production and delivery of its first full EV are scheduled for February. Smartphone maker Xiaomi (1810.HK) has also moved closer to EV production, with a unit of automaker BAIC Group (1958.HK) applying for regulatory approval to build two Xiaomi-branded cars.

They will look to establish an efficient battery asset management mechanism, build a unified battery swap operation and develop battery swappable vehicles compatible with each other's battery swap systems, the companies added. Battery swapping could ease the strain on power grids at peak times when drivers recharge, but industry analysts and executives expect it would only become feasible if batteries become more standardised. The number of Apple smartphones sold declined 4% year-on-year during the two-week sales from Oct. 30 to Nov. 12, the research consultancy said on Thursday. In comparison, the number of units sold by Huawei (HWT.UL) and Xiaomi (1810.HK) grew 66% and 28% respectively year-on-year over the same period. The increases for Huawei and Xiaomi helped fuel a 5% year-over-year rise in the overall number of Chinese smartphones sold during the promotion period, it said. BEIJING, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Police in the southwestern city of Chengdu said they had arrested a 39-year-old man surnamed Chen on suspicion of opening a casino, according to a notice on Wednesday. The person, who it described as Chen Moujie, has been arrested in accordance with the law and a further investigation is ongoing, the notice said. State media outlet Xinhua and local outlet wallstreetcn both reported that the police statement referred to the arrest of Chen Shaojie. Chen founded DouYu in 2014 and grew the company into China's leading video game streaming platform in China by number of users.
