DirecTV still provides bars, restaurants, small businesses and hotels with game access — but it no longer has the exclusive rights. As a condition of that deal, EverPass included the right to build its own commercial streaming connection for “Sunday Ticket,” bypassing third-party licensing. EverPass sets all the pricing for “Sunday Ticket,” both for its new streaming product and DirecTV’s satellite offering. Sports bars concerned about having all of their TVs show games without a delay probably would opt for the DirecTV product. 3) Certain commercial establishments are using YouTube’s “Sunday Ticket” and paying residential prices (about $500 per year) instead of the higher business rates.

CNN —Researchers in Denmark have published a case report revealing an unexpected consequence of one of breakdancing’s most iconic moves: the headspin. Breakdancing, or breaking as it’s called by its athletes, made its debut as an official sport at the 2024 Paris Olympics. These can include carpal tunnel syndrome and other nerve problems, as well as a condition known in the breaking community as headspin hole, an overuse injury that can affect the scalp. “This repetitive strain on the skull, scalp and skin likely triggers inflammation, and over time, minor bleeding may lead to thickened skin and scar tissue, forming the characteristic bulge.” Søndergaard, a co-author of the case report, treated the patient. The patient’s head before and after surgery to remove a noncancerous tumor caused by years of breakdancing.

My best friend and I met in high school, and we remained good friends through college. While I embarked on "life-defining" journeys, my friend didn't. But she had sorted hers already, and it didn't feel right to ramble about my shenanigans when she didn't share hers. As I saw her text now, two years later, I wondered if ghosting was the right way to end a 15-year friendship. After observing the same stagnant script of our meetings, I once asked her, "Why don't we have things to talk about?"

The good news is that recent data suggests a decline in overdose deaths, the first significant drop in decades. Skyrocketing overdose deaths are nearly unavoidable, regardless of whether a state enforces tough penalties for drug possession or decriminalizes it. Since 2021, at least two-thirds of America’s 100,000 annual overdose deaths involved a synthetic opioid like fentanyl. To those who know Gunn through her much-mocked Olympics performance, the ranking will likely come as a surprise. As such, the World DanceSport Federation — the governing body that produces the ranking — issued an explanation to go along with the news. The ranking, the body explained, does not take into account scores notched up at the Paris Olympics, nor at their qualifying rounds. Mark Kolbe/Getty ImagesThe current WDSF world No.2, Japanese breaker Riko, also gained 1,000 points in a qualifying competition.

Elon Musk announced his new company xAI which he says has the goal to understand the true nature of the universe. Elon Musk's artificial intelligence startup, xAI, is being accused by environmental and health advocates of adding to the pollution problem in Memphis, Tennessee, by using natural gas burning turbines at its new data center, and doing so without a permit. The letter notes that xAI "has installed at least 18 gas combustion turbines over the last several months (with more potentially on the way)." The company has been using the turbines to power the facility, but its long-term plan is to use power from the local utility, Memphis Light, Gas and Water and the Tennessee Valley Authority. MLGW told CNBC that it started providing 50 megawatts of power to xAI at the beginning of August.

Job hunters are facing a slowing labor market, but does that mean they should accept an offer without negotiating items like salary or remote work? You can use those preferences to filter your job search and to inform your discussions with a prospective employer. How to counter an offerIf your preferred job arrangement, such as fully remote work, isn't a complete deal-breaker, Goredema encourages you to continue the interview process until you receive a job offer. An offer in hand puts you in a "much stronger" position to negotiate the terms of your employment. Then say, 'Now, I'd really like to discuss next steps, and that includes compensation,'" or whichever aspect you're negotiating.

Breaking is a new sport at this year’s Summer Olympics — at least we’ll call it a sport for the sake of the Games. You probably know it as break dancing, the art form in which performers spin, pose, glide and dance across the floor with incredible athleticism and charisma. The event debuted yesterday in Paris with the women’s, or B-Girls’, competition. Ami Yuasa of Japan, known as B-Girl Ami, bested Lithuania’s Dominika Banevic, or B-Girl Nicka, to win breaking’s first gold medal. The dance spread nationally and globally through movies like “Beat Street” and pioneering crews providing demonstrations in countries like Japan and England.

Choi continued breaking while navigating corporate America. Olympics.com reported that breakers' moves fall into three elements: top rock, down rock, and freezes. Top rock refers to moves done while standing, such as a Crossover Step or an Outlaw Two-Step, while down rock refers to the moves done on the floor that we commonly associate with this style of dance. "It adds this element of surprise because the thing is, we don't even know what's going to happen, so how could the audience know what's going to happen?" Choi said breaking is also different from other sports because it doesn't have "a traditional history of having coaches."

Japan stocks rebounded sharply on Tuesday after the Nikkei 225 and the Topix dropped over 12% in the previous session. The Bank of Japan raising rates to their highest level since 2008 on July 30 caused the yen to strengthen to a seven-month high, pressurizing stocks. Markets globally were also spooked by fears of a U.S. recession stoked by a weaker-than-expected jobs report. Real wages in Japan also grew 1.1% in June compared with a year ago, the first time that wages have risen in 26 months. Strong wage growth offers more room for the Bank of Japan to tighten its monetary policy.
