Durov’s arrest comes as the app has faced growing scrutiny for its use by terrorist groups and far-right extremists. Telegram is an encrypted messaging service that was launched in 2013 by Durov and his brother, Nikolai. And earlier this month, the messaging app began actively removing calls to violence from the platform following reports that the app was being used to organize far-right, anti-immigrant riots in the United Kingdom. Aerospace supplier Spirit AeroSystems on Thursday said it will lay off some of its workers because of slower delivery rates on commercial aircraft as it struggles with a slowdown at its biggest commercial airplane customer, Boeing . Spirit AeroSystems told staff in a memo, reported earlier by Wichita-based KSN, that it would cut about 400 to 450 hourly employees. "We are committed to implementing this transition in as compassionate a manner as possible," Spirit AeroSystems said in a statement. Last week, Spirit AeroSystems said first-quarter Boeing deliveries decreased 31% from the same period in 2023, and said overall deliveries were down 11.3%. About 70% of Spirit AeroSystems' revenue last year came from Boeing, although the company also makes parts for Boeing's rival Airbus .

Spirit plans to raise $200 million via the sale of Class A common stock as well as issue $200 million in convertible debt set to mature in 2028, the company said after the closing bell on Tuesday. Its shares fell to as low as $20.98 on Wednesday following the news and are now down more than 25% year-to-date. GE shares were up 6% at $113.14 in pre-market hours. The Boston-based group now expects 2023 adjusted profit per share of $2.55 to $2.65, compared with an earlier forecast of $2.10 to $2.30. Tesla's Model Y and Model 3, and the Dacia Spring are among the EV models most sold in France, and they are built in China, as is the increasingly popular MG4, built by China's SAIC group. The government subsidy for electric cars stands at 5,000 euros ($5,270) for most households, and 7,000 for poorer ones. Car producers should get a response around Dec. 15 and will be allowed to appeal any negative decision.

"CFM is reviewing the documentation turned over by AOG Technics as part of our effort to determine the full extent of their sale of parts with fraudulent documentation," CFM said. AOG Technics could not be reached for comment. CFM56 engines are repaired through third-party networks or at maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities operated by CFM itself. The company said it had found four cases where parts from AOG entered its own facilities, impacting 16 engines. CFM said its more recent LEAP engine, used on the Boeing 737 MAX and some Airbus A320neo jets, was not affected.
