☆ Opinion: May is the month when we honor Asian Americans. Here’s what a lot of people get wrong

CNN —As we near the end of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed. Regina Kim Courtesy Regina KimBut too often, efforts to honor the contributions of Asian Americans, however well-intentioned, fall short because people fail to differentiate between Asian Americans and Asian communities outside the US. A recent study by the Asian American Foundation found that over half of Americans can’t name a single famous Asian American. This may be one reason why so many Americans can’t name any Asian Americans of note. The media needs to make a conscientious effort to seek out, identify and spotlight Asian Americans — and not just during AANHPI Heritage Month.

CNN —A first look at “Parasite” director Bong Joon Ho’s new movie is here. Based off the book “Mickey 7” by Edward Ashto, the Oscar winner penned the screenplay for “Mickey 17,” which may veer from the novel in some places. The book follows Mickey 7, who is an employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Mickey 7 takes on missions that are too dangerous for the others, and has already had six iterations of his life. Mickey 17 – In theaters 03.29.2024Robert Pattinson stars alongside Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo.

The setting for the second season of “White Lotus,” which premieres on HBO on Sunday, has shifted from a lavish five-star hotel nestled on a pristine beach in Hawaii to a luxury resort in the foothills of Sicily. What hasn’t changed is that the staff members working at the hotels are more relatable than the guests. Reboots of “Gossip Girl” and “The Kardashians” met similar fates as they failed to reach the heights of their originals. As most of us belong to the 99%, shows that scrutinize the top percentile are that much more delectable. “White Lotus” is one of the shows that manages to navigate both successfully, showcasing trust-fund babies who self-implode without the viewer feeling sorry for them.

Americanul Noah Baumbach a obţinut premiul „cel mai bun scenariu” pentru „Marriage Story”, iar „I Lost My Body” al Netflix s-a impus la categoria „cel mai bun film de animaţie”. „American Factory”, realizat de Steven Bognar şi Julia Reichert, a fost desemnat câştigător la categoria „cel mai bun film documentar”.
