CNN —A World War II airman who died in 1943 after his aircraft went down over Romania was recently honored at an American cemetery abroad, according to the American Battle Monuments Commission. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced last month Samoski was accounted for, according to a news release from the agency. American Graves Registration Command, which tracked down fallen American personnel, disinterred all American remains from the cemetery after the war, according to the agency. The remains of more than 80 unknowns who could not be identified were recovered and interred at two cemeteries in Belgium. Those remains were then sent from Belgium to an agency laboratory to be examined and identified, the agency said.

A former Credit Suisse chair used the bank's private jet to breach COVID restrictions. AdvertisementUBS has sold the Credit Suisse private jet that prompted its ex-chairman's resignation after just nine months, according to the Financial Times. António Horta-Osório used the bank's Dassault Falcon 7X to travel to sports matches and breach COVID travel restrictions, an internal investigation found. A used Falcon 7X typically sells for around $18 million, according to listings on AV Buyer. The FT reported that Credit Suisse planned to sell its jet before being rescued by UBS earlier this year, but UBS executives pushed through the sale.

The estimated program cost is 10.4 billion Canadian dollars, of which just under 6 billion dollars is the purchase price of the planes. (The program cost includes weapons, training simulators, spare parts and renovations at the Air Force bases in British Columbia and Nova Scotia where the planes will be stationed.) As with the 1980s vintage CP-140 Aurora planes they will replace, the main duty of the newcomers will be tracking submarines. But, as is the case now, they will most likely perform a number of other tasks ranging from tracking drug smuggling in the Caribbean to monitoring pollution in Canada. In particular, they wanted it to consider a proposed marine surveillance plane from Montreal-based Bombardier.

An announcement would end months of speculation and follow a challenge from Canadian private planemaker Bombardier (BBDb.TO) which called for an open competition so it could submit a bid using its large-cabin Global business jets. A draft agreement between the governments of Canada and the United States for the sale of the Poseidon aircraft and associated training and equipment is set to expire on Thursday. Boeing declined comment on Wednesday.
