MUMBAI, June 7 (Reuters) - About three-fourths of Indians are choosing to deposit the recently withdrawn 2000-rupee notes into bank accounts so far rather than exchanging them for smaller denominations, with the trend likely to boost bank deposits, bankers said. In May, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said it would withdraw these high-value notes from circulation and permitted their exchange or deposit until Sept. 30. When announced, the value of these notes in circulation was 3.6 trillion rupees ($43.61 billion), the RBI said. Though the total quantum of notes deposited or exchanged so far is not available, six public and private sector bankers Reuters spoke to said over 80% of the notes received by them have been deposited into accounts. The initial assumption is the overall bank deposit base would increase by at least 1.5 trillion rupees, with SBI contributing 22%-25%, the SBI official said.

A former MoviePass exec was arrested Tuesday on allegations that he embezzled $260,000 from its former parent company. Khalid Itum was charged with two counts of wire fraud and two counts of money laundering. According to the indictment, Itum, 42, registered the Los Angeles-based company Kaleidoscope Productions LLC in 2017 that provided production and marketing services. Itum was arrested by the FBI and has been charged with two counts of wire fraud and two counts of money laundering. In November, Farnsworth and Lowe were charged in a securities fraud case by the Department of Justice on one count of securities fraud and three counts of wire fraud.

MUMBAI, Jan 27 (Reuters) - Some of India's leading public sector banks said on Friday their exposure to the Adani Group was within the limits prescribed by the central bank, assuaging fears of default risks from their exposure to the conglomerate. Public sector banks in India have in the past been hit by massive corporate defaults. The board will take any decision on the bank's exposure to the group only after that, the official said. An Ohio man who's an extremist "Boogaloo Boi" has been arrested after allegedly threatening to kill federal agents and boasting online about his weapons stash, including a grenade launcher, the FBI announced. The complaint says that since at least early 2021, McKillips had been posting messages insinuating or explicitly threatening to harm the government or federal agents. McKillips was arrested on criminal complaint charges of unlawful possession of a machine gun and interstate communication of threats, the FBI said. That profile posted a photo of an AR-15 style rifle fitted with a grenade launcher on Jan. 14, 2021, the complaint said. On July 6, 2021, a confidential source reported that McKillips had posted recordings in a Signal chat room talking about burning down federal buildings and shooting federal agents.
