A New York City monsignor who raised eyebrows by allowing pop star Sabrina Carpenter to film a video in his church was relieved of duties after he allegedly mishandled nearly $2 million of church funds, church officials announced. The Diocese said the investigation "uncovered a pattern of serious violations of Diocesan policies and protocols by Monsignor Gigantiello." She recently came under fire for filming parts of her "Feathers" music video at a Roman Catholic church in Brooklyn. "We got approval in advance," Carpenter told Variety, adding, "and Jesus was a carpenter." In a post on Facebook following those actions asking for the church community's forgiveness, Gigantiello said a film crew had come to them in September, and that he allowed filming after not finding anything untoward in a search of the participants. Carpenter was in the Disney Channel’s “Girl Meets World” series that ran from 2014-2017 and has been singing for several years. Her music video has been viewed 11 million times on YouTube since its release.
