(Travis is a noted fan of "Blank Space," one of several hit singles from Swift's fifth studio album.) "There was no bike in case I ran into somebody else or hit one of the dancers or anything," Travis said. Do not drop Taylor on your way over to this damn couch,'" he said. Do not drop Taylor, do not fuck this up." Travis wooed Swift last summer by giving her a shout-out on "New Heights," a move that Swift later described as "metal as hell."

The Washington Commanders have an agreement with Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to hire him as coach, according to two people with knowledge of the decision. Quinn, 53, spent the past three seasons running the defense for the NFC East-rival Cowboys after five-plus seasons coaching the Atlanta Falcons. Quinn coached the Falcons to a Super Bowl appearance in 2016 before being fired after an 0-5 start in 2020. He became Washington’s choice after Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, considered a top candidate, told teams Tuesday he was staying with Detroit and the Seahawks hired Baltimore defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald. Macdonald going to Seattle made Quinn the front-runner, and he got the job over the likes of Detroit defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and Baltimore assistant Anthony Weaver.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Nagy left after that season for Chicago, where he spent four years as the Bears' head coach. Only now, Nagy possessed the rare experience of having been an NFL head coach. “I think what you have,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said, “is that both Nags and Spags are good leaders. “He had success as a head coach,” Mahomes continued, “and he had some times where he didn't have as much success.

DETROIT (AP) — Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has decided to stay with the team and turn down potential opportunities to be an NFL head coach next season, leading the Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks to turn to other candidates. Two people familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Johnson informed teams he would not be leaving the Lions. One of the people familiar with the situation said the Washington brass is still meeting with Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. Their 34-31 loss to San Francisco on Sunday paved the way for teams to hire Johnson or Glenn. It’s unclear if they’ll pivot to former Tennessee coach Mike Vrabel, their own offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy or someone else after missing out on the opportunity to hire Johnson.

The Washington Commanders fired defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio and defensive backs coach Brent Vieselmeyer on Friday. “Today I relieved Jack Del Rio and Brent Vieselmeyer of their duties," coach Ron Rivera said in a statement. Del Rio was 12 games into his fourth season with Washington after Rivera hired him in 2020. “People’s livelihoods are being destroyed, businesses are being burned down, no problem,” Del Rio said in June 2022. But the lack of results ultimately cost Del Rio and Vieselmeyer their jobs.

In his first six years in the league, Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes has pulled off a career’s worth of surprises, trick plays and comebacks. So with 2 minutes 37 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and his Chiefs trailing by just a point at home against the Detroit Lions, Mahomes seemed poised to mount yet another game-winning drive. But on Thursday night, Mahomes was playing under unusual circumstances. Three more incompletions and a penalty forced the Chiefs to hand over the ball on downs, allowing the Lions to hold on for a 21-20 upset victory in the N.F.L.’s season-opening game. “There were some good things on offense, but we have to be more consistent,” Chiefs Coach Andy Reid said.
