CNN —Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft and its crew have been in space for more than a month — much longer than the weeklong stay initially expected. But the two astronauts piloting this historic test mission mostly spoke favorably about the vehicle that carried them to the International Space Station, marking the inaugural crewed flight of the Boeing-built spacecraft. I mean, truly amazing,” Butch Wilmore, one of two NASA astronauts helming this mission, said in a Wednesday news briefing. The pump’s failure “put us in a position where we’d have to store an awful lot of urine,” said Dana Weigel, manager for NASA’s International Space Station Program, before the flight. SpaceX designed its cargo Dragon spacecraft years before its Crew Dragon capsule, while Boeing somewhat started from scratch with Starliner.

Spaceflight veterans Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore arrived at the space station aboard the Starliner on June 6. It’s not uncommon for astronauts to unexpectedly extend their stay aboard the space station — for days, weeks or even months. But the situation makes for a moment of uncertainty and embarrassment that joins a long list of similar blunders by the Boeing Starliner program, which is already years behind schedule. The Starliner spacecraft on NASA's Boeing Crew Flight Test is pictured docked to the Harmony module's forward port on June 13 as the International Space Station orbited 262 miles above Egypt's Mediterranean coast. The first Starliner test mission, flown without crew in late 2019, was riddled with missteps.

CNN —After years of delays and a dizzying array of setbacks during test flights, Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft is finally set to make its inaugural crewed launch. “This is history in the making,” NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said of the upcoming Starliner mission during a March 22 news conference. Missteps riddled a Starliner test flight the prior year, leaving NASA and Boeing officials scrambling to figure out what went wrong. SpaceX’s Crew Dragon has been flying routine trips ever since, carrying NASA astronauts and even paying customers and tourists. On May’s inaugural crewed flight, Boeing will instead use a “perfectly acceptable mitigation” that should prevent the valves from sticking, Nappi said in March.

The NFL has a host of candidates that can lay claim to this title, but Patrick Mahomes is already making his case, just seven seasons into his NFL career. This was supposed to be the year where a few cracks might be appearing in the Chiefs dynasty, but we have been taught to never bet against the Kansas City quarterback. “He has become an international star, but he’s also elevated Kansas City alongside him,” Nate Taylor, Chiefs writer for The Athletic, told CNN Sport. A recent report in the Wall Street Journal that Elon Musk uses ketamine at parties could prompt an investigation into his security clearance, two attorneys who specialize in national security law told Insider. Drug use is typically grounds for the government to yank someone's security clearance, the two national security attorneys told Insider. Security clearance applicants are specifically required to disclose whether they have used ketamine on SF-86, the standard application form used to apply for a clearance. Edmunds, the security clearance attorney, said that in his experience, there is a "very prevalent" double standard for security clearance infractions, wherein defense contracting executives and higher-ranking government officials receive more permissive treatment than their subordinates. Musk boosts the benefits of drug useAfter the Rogan incident, Musk told "60 Minutes" that he didn't regularly smoke pot.

She told Insider she trained the NASA astronauts for SpaceX's first crewed mission to the ISS. I've been passionate about sending humans into space since I was eight years old, so becoming a mission operations engineer at SpaceX in 2009 was a lifetime achievement for me. Out of the 20 employees in the mission operations team, I was the only trainer. NASA selected SpaceX as one of the partners for the program, and six years later, SpaceX sent its first crewed mission to the ISS. Two NASA astronauts, Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley, launched on the Crew Dragon spaceship — and I had the privilege of training them for the flight.
CNN —Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane was rushed to the hospital after suffering a deep cut to his left wrist during his team’s win against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday. In the resulting scramble for the puck, opponent Pat Maroon accidentally skated over Kane’s wrist and a pool of blood instantly formed on the ice. A clearly concerned Kane immediately got up and rushed to the medical staff holding his wrist. “First and foremost, everyone on our team, everyone in our organization […] are thinking about Evander Kane,” Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft told reporters. Kane rushed to the bench after his wrist was cut.
