CNN —The legacy of “Saturday Night Fever” is stayin’ alive, as the dancefloor featured in the classic disco movie is set to fetch as much as $300,000 at auction next month. With its flashing colorful lights, the dancefloor provided the perfect backdrop for John Travolta’s character, Tony Manero, to flaunt his now-iconic groovy dance moves in his white shirt. After filming wrapped, the dancefloor stayed at the club until it closed down, when it was bought by an employee. The movie and its catchy soundtrack by the Bee Gees, meanwhile, helped to repopularize disco around the world at a time when its dominance was waning. Meanwhile, Jeff Bridges’ bowling costume, which he wears in the final three scenes of “The Big Lebowski,” could sell for $200,000.

On Sunday, the Kennedy Center honored artists who not only revolutionized their genres but transcended them: Billy Crystal, the actor and comedian; Barry Gibb, the musician and songwriter who rose to fame as the eldest member of the Bee Gees; Renée Fleming, the opera singer; Queen Latifah, the rapper, singer and actress; and Dionne Warwick, the singer. WASHINGTON (AP) — The newest group of Kennedy Center honorees, including comedian Billy Crystal and actor Queen Latifah, are being feted Sunday night at a star-studded event commemorating their lifetime achievement in arts and entertainment. Opera singer Renée Fleming, music star Barry Gibb and prolific hitmaker Dionne Warwick also are being honored at the black-tie gala. Bill Cosby received both honors, but they were rescinded in 2018 following his sexual assault conviction, which later was overturned. Along with his late brothers Robin and Maurice, the trio launched a nearly unmatched string of hits that defined a generation of music. Fleming sang the national anthem while Latifah performed “America the Beautiful.”
