Perplexity AI on Tuesday debuted a revenue-sharing model for publishers after more than a month of plagiarism accusations. Media outlets and content platforms including Fortune, Time, Entrepreneur, The Texas Tribune, Der Spiegel and WordPress.com are the first to join the company's "Publishers Program." Under the new partner program, any time a user asks a question and Perplexity generates advertising revenue from citing one of the publisher's articles in its answer, Perplexity will share a flat percentage of that revenue. "Some of it grew out of conversations we were having with publishers about integrating Perplexity APIs and technology into their products," Shevelenko said. But not all news organizations are gearing up for a fight, and some are instead joining forces with AI startups like OpenAI, Perplexity and others.

Cramer asked Bettinger whether his company still had an issue with cash shorting, as was suggested by a Thursday story from Barron's. Cash shorting, which occurs when depositors move funds form lower-paying accounts to high-yield ones, plagued Schwab last year, according to Barron's. But Bettinger suggested that cash shorting is not a significant issue. As an investment advisor, Bettinger said Schwab ensures that their clients' cash goes into a high-yielding money market fund. DNB Asset Management, a Nordic fund giant managing nearly $90 billion as of the end of 2023, dumped a sizable portion of its Nvidia stake after the chipmaker's stunning 2024 run, according to a new regulatory filing. The sale came after Nvidia's jaw-dropping rally that pushed its market valuation above $3 trillion. Still, the rally in Nvidia has recently shown has signs of exhaustion as 2024's bull run broadened out to the unloved pockets of the market. DNB, with about 100 investment funds, had around $88 billion in assets under management as of 2023, according to the firm's website. Bill Gross told Barron's that oil and gas pipelines are a top investment of his as he seeks alternatives to a tapped-out bond market. He says these publicly-traded multiple limited partnerships offer strong returns with additional tax advantages. Rather than seeking opportunity in the bond market, the legendary billionaire is investing in oil and gas pipelines. Gross notes that the pipelines — which trade as master limited partnerships — possess many of the yield attributes of bonds. Famed investor Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway placed a $2.7 billion bet on Paramount in 2022. But when someone who's worth an estimated $132 billion says "quite a bit of money," it's probably a very big amount. The math: In 2022, Berkshire accumulated 91 million shares of Paramount B shares; Barron's estimates he paid "more than $30" per share. AdvertisementThat left Berkshire with another 63.3 million Paramount shares at the beginning of 2024, and sometime between then and Saturday they have sold off the rest. Add all that up, and it looks like Berkshire sold its Paramount stake for $1.2 billion after paying $2.7 billion for it — a $1.5 billion loss.

Trump has griped that his ongoing criminal hush-money trial — for 34 counts of falsifying business documents — is impairing his campaign to recapture the presidency. He has scheduled events across the country on Wednesdays, the one day each week the trial is not scheduled to take place. According to The Washington Post, Trump's legal team has decided not to stipulate to anything and to fight over everything. (Daniels and Trump were photographed together in 2006, and Daniels attended a Trump vodka event the following year.) This can be "frustrating" for the court in a practical sense, Bederow said, but Trump "has a right to do it."
