New York CNN —Hourly retail security workers are now wearing police-like body cameras at major stores. The manufacturer of Taser devices and other security companies are now designing and marketing body cameras specifically for retail workers. “Body cameras are just one of the many ways that we work to support a safe store environment,” the spokesperson said. Bakery chain Greggs gave employees body cameras after a rise in sausage roll thefts and threats from customers. Applebaum also expressed concerns about the information the body cameras are collecting and whether it could be used to stymie union organizing attempts.

CNN —Children’s sketches of violent scenes of gladiators and hunters battling animals have been uncovered at the archaeological park of Pompeii, the park’s superintendent has said. The drawings, thought to be made by children between the ages of five and seven sometime before Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD, were found on the walls of a back room in the “Island of chaste lovers” residential sector of the archaeological park. The drawings depict a fight scene with two gladiators, spears in hand, facing what is likely to have been intended to be wild boars. So far, they have determined that the drawings likely came from “direct vision” of an event rather than from pictorial models.

Access to Aid in Gaza Was Dire. Israel closed that crossing as well as the Rafah crossing, where a majority of aid had been coming in. Nearly 300 aid trucks had crossed there in a single day just before the incursion. COGAT, the Israeli military agency coordinating aid delivery, has said that increasing the amount of aid going into Gaza remains a priority. But just a quarter of that amount arrives on average each day since the closure of Rafah crossing, according to U.N. data.

AdvertisementAmong my kids' classmates and friends, I can't name a single child born in recent years whose name falls into this category. Related storiesOne of my kids technically has a gender-neutral name, but admittedly, it wasn't an issue when we named him in Germany. Another interesting fact is that common German last names, like Schroeder or Fischer, can't be given as first names in Germany. The reason for these names being rejected is due to child protection grounds, as they are seen by German law as acts of child cruelty. Fortunately, this particular law was never an issue for us — we certainly never intended to give our children names like Stalin or Captain Marvel.

A Pennsylvania teenager had to be resuscitated in March when he went into cardiac arrest after drinking Panera Bread's highly caffeinated Charged Lemonade, a lawsuit says. His ordeal was first reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette several days before Panera announced it was discontinuing its Charged Lemonade. Charged Lemonade contains caffeine from multiple sources, including the stimulant guarana extract. Previously, it had advertised its Charged Lemonade as "Plant-based and Clean" with as much caffeine as its dark roast coffee. All it took for the crookie to take shape was a baker looking for a diversion, his time-tested croissant recipe and a few cookies for inspiration. It took TikTok to make it go viral. Stéphane Louvard created the crookie almost a year and a half ago when he came up with the idea of putting cookie dough into a croissant and then baking it again. On one day in February, Mr. Louvard sold 2,300 of the pastries at his bakery in a bustling Paris neighborhood.
