A brand-new Disney cruise ship rushed to the aid of a catamaran taking on water in the Atlantic on Sunday and plucked four people to safety, authorities said. The Disney Treasure responded, saying it was 80 miles from Serenity, before heading to the catamaran and arriving between 1 p.m. and 1:45 p.m., according to the Coast Guard. A life boat from the cruise ship Treasure heads toward a disabled Catamaran. It appeared Disney Treasure was only recently constructed and headed to its future home in Port Canaveral, Florida, when she was unexpectedly called to duty. The Disney Treasure "journeys across the Atlantic Ocean ... in preparation for its inaugural season this December," according to a Disney blog posting on Friday.

The search for a woman who fell from a Taylor Swift-themed cruise ship in the Bahamas was suspended Wednesday, a day after she went into the water, officials said. The U.S. Coast Guard said Wednesday afternoon that the Royal Bahamas Defence Force was suspending its search pending new developments and that it no longer needed the Coast Guard's assistance. The Coast Guard said it sent an HC-144 airplane and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter to help. A Royal Caribbean spokesperson said that a search-and-rescue operation was immediate launched and that it is working with local authorities. On Thursday, tropical storm conditions are expected in portions of the northwestern Bahamas. Just one day ago, Hurricane Milton’s tropical storm-force winds extended out 80 miles from the center. This trend is expected to continue until landfall, with Milton expected to bring tropical storm-force winds to much of the Florida Peninsula throughout landfall. Hurricane conditions are expected in some areas beginning Wednesday evening through early Thursday and are possible in other areas on Thursday. Hurricane Milton is still a Category 5 hurricane with winds of 160 mph, according to the 2 a.m. update from the National Hurricane Center.

Tropical Storm Milton formed in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico Saturday morning, just hours after it became a tropical depression, , according to the National Hurricane Center. This new storm formation comes less than 10 days after Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida, and is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane, bringing life-threatening conditions to the state's west coast next week. Maximum sustained winds from Tropical Storm Milton are estimated to be 40 miles per hour with higher gusts, the NHC said. Hurricane and storm surge watches will likely be required for certain regions of Florida on Sunday, many of which have just been hard-hit by Hurricane Helene. The National Weather Service placed the region in the potential path of Tropical Storm Milton, although it is still too early to tell how the storm will impact the county.

CNN —Less than 10 days after Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida, the state is now bracing for another potential storm brewing in the Gulf of Mexico. Tropical Depression 14 formed in the western Gulf on Saturday morning and is expected to become Tropical Storm Milton in the next 24 hours, the National Hurricane Center said. Hurricane watches, as well as storm surge watches, will likely be issued for portions of the Florida coast on Sunday. There is also an increasing risk of storm surge for the western Florida Peninsula as early as late Tuesday or Wednesday. The hurricane center is warning people in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, the Florida Peninsula, the Florida Keys, as well as the Bahamas to closely monitor this system this weekend and early next week for any impacts.
