The problem for Apollo Bagels begins outside its cramped West Village corner storefront and ends, at peak hours, more than 100 feet down the block. That is the reach of a line of hungry customers who wait patiently outside the shop on weekend mornings and afternoons, seeking a taste of a chewy, crunchy bagel that has been ranked as one of the best in bagel-crazed New York City. On a recent Sunday, the line included Emma Richardson, 23, who lives in Paris and was capping a 10-day trip to New York with a visit to Apollo Bagels after an American friend told her she “had to go.”Galen Hughes, 31, who hunts down food that has gone viral in her spare time, had booked an early train from Philadelphia to squeeze in the wait before heading to a Broadway matinee.

CNN —When photographer Elizabeth Kahane’s husband asked where in New York they should live following their engagement in 1998, she had a very specific requirement for their marital home: A view of the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Its street-facing windows offered the perfect vantage point to watch — and photograph — the procession, which travels down through midtown Manhattan to Macy’s department store on Thanksgiving morning. The photographer has captured the spectacle almost every year since, missing the parade just twice in over a quarter of a century. Thomas the Tank Engine, the Kool-Aid Man and Boss Baby are just some of the dozens of other outsized characters Kahane has pictured floating slowly past her home — often at eye-level. Some shots were taken from inside the apartment, with kids seen enjoying the surreal view of parade characters — from Sonic the Hedgehog to Pikachu, gleefully riding a Poké Ball-inspired sled — looming outside.

CNN —It’s almost impossible to know what to say to someone in the throes of grief. There’s no one right answer, of course. Still, trading notes with a few grieving people, including my own children, I’ve found some helpful do’s and five unexpected don’ts. Avoid improperly storing Costco's baked goods. You can freeze most of Costco's baked goods. To avoid food waste, individually package each item in plastic wrap as soon as you get home. You can leave some out on the counter to enjoy over the next few days and store the rest in the freezer. You can also take it out of the freezer the night before and leave it on the counter to enjoy in the morning.

Why Everything Bagel Seasoning Was Banned in South Korea

The seasoning garnishes everything from bagels and scrambled eggs to fried chicken in many countries. But in South Korea, it tops something else: a list of unexpected goods travelers are banned from bringing into the country. Trader Joe’s savory Everything but The Bagel seasoning mix has a cult following in the United States, but many who have tried to bring the topping into South Korea have had the garlic, onion and poppy seed blend — often described as “everything seasoning” — confiscated by authorities, local news reports said. Food containing poppy seeds, “including popular bagel seasoning blends,” is considered contraband in South Korea, according to the U.S. Embassy, making the coveted topping a forbidden treat. The Trader Joe’s seasoning has been banned in South Korea since 2022, but the brand’s popularity in the region has skyrocketed, with influencers in Japan sporting Trader Joe’s canvas tote bags as a fashion statement.
