The stock trades at just 18x forward EPS, which is an 18% discount to the S & P 500 compared to an historical average of about a 24% premium. At about 17.3x forward EPS, we believe that patient investors could be well rewarded over time as investment spending continues. Looking ahead, these efforts should allow BDX to consistently achieve its long-term growth algorithm of mid-single-digit organic revenue growth and low-double-digit EPS growth. BDX shares currently trade at 15.4x forward EPS – a significant discount to both the S & P 500 and its Medtech peers. Shares trade at 27.5x forward EPS and a 16% discount to Mastercard, which seems unwarranted.

It had been more than a year since the Covid pandemic had forced Disney's domestic parks to shutter, but D'Amaro, chair of Disney's experiences division, was confident guests would flood back in when the gates reopened. Revenues fell 35% in 2020, a nearly $10 billion decrease from the $26.2 billion the experiences division had tallied in the year before the pandemic. The experiences division posted record revenue of $32.5 billion in fiscal 2023, a 16% increase from the prior year. Its innovations, from ride mechanics and animatronics to creature design and immersive architecture, have made Disney's parks a standout in the industry. Storytelling is at the heart of everything across Disney's experiences division.

The U.S. population is getting older and per capita health care spending has been rising — other than the pandemic blip — very steadily for half a century. We'll detail a simple trade on a resilient health care industry stock that stands to benefit from that long-term trend. Becton Dickinson (BDX) has a large array of healthcare products and consequently doesn't exhibit the volatility that some other health care companies have like biotech. Unsurprisingly, when we look at the health care sector, we also see consistent long-term growth. The Health Care Select Sector Index (IXV) includes more than 60 companies in pharmaceuticals, biotech, equipment, managed care, service providers and distribution.

All three major averages posted gains for the third consecutive week, lifted by solid quarterly earnings and positive economic data. Earnings season ramps up next week, with five of the Super Six mega-cap stocks delivering results. Employment numbers are the most important economic data, with Friday's January nonfarm payrolls report carrying the most weight. The January ISM Manufacturing report on Thursday and December's factory orders report Friday are expected to show the sector still in contraction mode. But earnings and commentary this week from peer Sartorious made us encouraged about a return to growth in 2024.

REUTERS/Andrew Kelly/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsDec 1 (Reuters) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said on Friday that Becton Dickinson (BDX.N) is recalling its Alaris infusion pumps due to compatibility issues with Cardinal Health's (CAH.N) Monoject syringes. However, the dimensions for Monoject syringes have recently changed while rebranding the syringes from Covidien Monoject to Cardinal Health Monoject. Last month, the FDA warned healthcare providers not to use Cardinal's Monoject syringes with patient-controlled pain management pumps and syringe pumps after the company initiated a recall due to compatibility problems. On Sept. 15, BD asked its customers to stop using Cardinal's Monoject syringes with BD's Alaris pumps. An infusion pump is a medical device that delivers fluids such as nutrients and medications into a patient's body in controlled amounts.

The stock of Club holding Morgan Stanley (MS) dropped to $70 from $100 before bouncing back to $80 when interest rates recently peaked. Morgan Stanley and Schwab did nothing bad or shameful, but their multiples are shadows of their former selves. At least Morgan Stanley has a nice dividend yield of 4.25%. Key, Huntington, First Horizon, Morgan Stanley and Schwab are all good franchises that are regarded as cheap. The Morgan Stanley headquarters is seen in New York City on Jan. 17, 2023.

The major averages rebounded strongly this week as quarterly earnings came in largely better than expected and interest rates fell on softer economic data. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose more than 5% for its best week since October 2022. The big theme next week is earnings and the four portfolio companies delivering their quarterly results. Here's the full rundown of all the important domestic data in the week ahead as we consider a number areas of our portfolio for trades next week. All three major averages advanced for the week, powered by strong mega-cap earnings and favorable inflation data. Looking to next week, earnings season enters its second half with the last of our mega-caps — Apple (AAPL) and Amazon (AMZN) — set to report on Thursday. We'll get a better read on the employment picture on Wednesday with the ADP report and then, more importantly, on Friday's nonfarm payrolls report for July. Thursday after the close brings us to the main events of the week: Earnings from Apple and Amazon. For those looking to review first quarter performance ahead of these releases, be sure to keep our first-quarter earnings report card handy.

The biggest week of this earnings season showed us that things aren't as bad as many feared. The week ahead of earnings, including several more Club names, should tell us more. The results are always important, but it's the guidance and management commentary we will really hone in on to better understand the path ahead. In Amazon's case, a solid first quarter for its AWS cloud business was overshadowed by management seeing a material slowdown in April. ET: Nonfarm Payrolls Looking back It was the biggest week of this earnings season for the Club as several of our mega-cap holdings and industry bellwethers reported results.

While only six companies in the Dow Jones Industrial Average are reporting next week, about 20% of the S & P 500 reports, making it the biggest week of earnings this season. The Dow and the S & P 500 gained 2.2% and 2.9% this week, respectively, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 4.7%. Regarding the cloud, AMZN's Web Services business is the market leader in cloud infrastructure services. Moreover, the scale of AMZN's web services business provides many cost advantages as very few companies can compete with AMZN's investment spend and first-mover advantage. Over the long term, we would expect MDLZ to generate double-digit total returns, consisting of high-single digit EPS growth and the 2.3% dividend. There is a long runway remaining for cloud growth as companies slowly deal with legacy investments that still drive value but are not cloud-based. Management remains committed to its goal of high single-digit EPS growth in 2023, followed by sustained double-digit growth in 2024 and beyond.
Baird upgrades Advance Micro Devices (AMD) to outperform from neutral (buy from hold) and raises price target to $100 per share from $65. UBS goes to a buy from neutral as well and raises price target to $95 from $75. Oppenheimer cuts price target on Club holding Nvidia (NVDA) to $225 per share from $250. Credit Suisse analyst Scott Deuschle assumes coverage on Honeywell (HON) with a neutral rating and a $202-per-share price target. Good for Club holding Eli Lily (LLY) and Biogen (BIIB), which are each working on separate experiment treatments for the disease.
It is very premature, in my view, to think about or be talking about pausing our rate hikes. The news sent those stocks reliant on China for growth — Starbucks, Estee Lauder and Wynn Resorts, among many others — higher. Or bad news could just be bad news if weak data signals a recession ahead. And good news could be good news: for example, if China reopens and U.S. companies exposed to the region see a boost in demand. People walk on a street affected by the passing of Hurricane Fiona in Penuelas, Puerto Rico September 19, 2022. Baxter, which makes small bags for intravenous medication, clinical nutrition products and inhaled anesthetics in Puerto Rico, said its facilities have "sustained little to no damage" from the storm. The company took a $70 million revenue hit after Hurricane Maria in 2017, spurring it to diversify manufacturing of key products. Drugmakers with plants in Puerto Rico said they have been able to keep up production and supplies as well. Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.N) said operations were restored at all its sites in Puerto Rico by Wednesday.
