CNN —A Civil Air Patrol plane crashed during a training exercise in northern Colorado on Saturday, killing two people and injuring another person, authorities said. The Cessna 182 aircraft crashed in Larimer County, Colorado, while participating in a search and rescue training exercise, according to a Civil Air Patrol news release. Civil Air Patrol said it will cooperate with the NTSB’s investigation to learn more about what contributed to the incident. Major General Laura Clellan, who oversees the Colorado Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, said she was devastated by the loss Saturday. The Civil Air Patrol is an auxiliary of the US Air Force and nonprofit organization.

It’s a terrifying prospect that could become a reality for Anna and millions of her peers across Myanmar after the military junta activated a mandatory conscription law for all young men and women. “While wounded and increasingly desperate, the Myanmar military junta remains extremely dangerous,” Tom Andrews, United Nations Special Rapporteur for human rights in Myanmar, said in a statement. “People know for sure that no matter what is written in the conscription law, they will have to go to the front lines. “In Myanmar, young people are not safe anymore,” said Maung Nyein, who also requested to use a pseudonym for safety reasons. “Our villagers won’t join the military forces or leave the country, instead we will join our resistance forces.

Dianne Feinstein makes news these days for the health challenges that seem to keep mounting, but behind her story is another, which few pay attention to. When I watched the news clip of Senator Feinstein starting to give prepared comments on an $823 billion military budget, when all she needed to do was say “aye,” I felt the ache of familiarity. Senator Feinstein, we’ve been told, had recently recovered from encephalitis, which she got from shingles, and which can result in cognitive issues. They know the looks, the behavior; they live with all of it day after day, month after month. Let me tell you something about the fear of cognitive decline: It unleashes a torrent of emotions in caregivers.

Also in the Senate, California’s Dianne Feinstein, 90, has been ill and displayed apparent cognitive decline in public in recent months. But given that Biden, McConnell and Feinstein are public officials, voters are entitled to a high level of transparency. Biden, for instance, would be 86 by the time his second term ends, which represents his biggest vulnerability in the 2024 election. Remarkably, in an age where major questions divide on party lines, 69% of Democrats shared that view. Should Biden, if he wins a second term, experience a similar moment to McConnell, questions about the continuity of US leadership would reverberate around the world and offer openings for US adversaries.

What are neopronouns and how do you use them?

And then there are neopronouns (“new” pronouns), gender-neutral or nonbinary pronouns that are distinct from the common she, he and they. All pronouns indicate identity and can be used to include or exclude people they describe — neopronouns included, said Dennis Baron, one of the foremost experts on neopronouns and their histories and an emeritus professor of English and Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Other neopronouns are completely original to their user – some may choose to select a noun to describe themselves, like “star” or “starself” in place of binary pronouns like “she” or “herself.” These are called nounself neopronouns, but more on those later. Why people use neopronounsPeople may use neopronouns for the same reason someone else uses “she” and/or “they” — neopronouns may better align with one’s identity. Opinion: The Donald Trump and Hunter Biden surprises

So it was remarkable Wednesday when the deal for Hunter Biden to plead guilty to two misdemeanors for his failure to pay taxes on time fell apart in a federal courtroom after the judge raised questions about it. Special counsel Jack Smith unexpectedly added a major allegation to the indictment charging former President Donald Trump with mishandling classified documents. Dianne Feinstein weighed in on Mitch McConnell's freeze-up in front of reporters this week. Asked about it the day after it happened, she said she wasn't aware of the incident. The 90-year-old California Democrat — whose own cognitive decline and health issues have been the subject of scrutiny, particularly in the months since she came down with a shingles infection — was asked by a Los Angeles Times reporter on Thursday about McConnell's health scare. Both Feinstein and McConnell have taken extended absences from the Senate this year in relation to their respective health issues. After McConnell's incident this week, multiple outlets reported that he's suffered numerous falls this year, along with an already-known fall at a Washington event in March that left the Kentucky Republican with a concussion.

Two of the Senate's oldest and most powerful members had "senior moments" in recent days. Congress currently operates via seniority, meaning members gain more power depending on how long they've served. The back-to-back "senior moments" from McConnell and Feinstein, two of the most senior and powerful members of the Senate, illustrate just how much of a gerontocracy, a society governed by the old, the US has become. While Feinstein has said she's retiring at the end of her term, McConnell has suggested no such thing. In the 2020-2022 Congressional term, an Insider study found that nearly 1-in-4 members of Congress were over the age of 70.

The freeze is not an isolated incidentEarlier this year, McConnell could not hear reporters at a different news conference. Plus, McConnell is known to have fallen at least three times in the past year, according to CNN’s Manu Raju. His fall at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington led to a concussion and broken ribs that sidelined him for weeks. Nikki Haley got some early attention for her presidential campaign when she suggested a mental competency test for politicians over 75. The only other longer-serving senator is Sen. The findings in the ambitious Zoonomia Project identified parts of the genome functionally important in people and other mammals and showed how certain mutations can cause disease. The project revealed the genetics of uncommon mammalian traits like hibernation and showed how the sense of smell varies widely. The researchers said the findings on hibernation genetics could inform human therapeutics, critical care and long-distance space flight. The most primitive species was the venomous burrowing insect-eater Hispaniola solenodon, closely related to mammals alive during the dinosaur age. In terms of human differences from other mammals, the study pointed to regions associated with developmental and neurological genes.

Widely seen footage smuggled out of Myanmar in 2007 showed a soldier aiming a rifle near Nagai, who falls backwards on the road. U.S. workplaces are among the worst for offering the least amount of paid vacation days, and even employees who do have access to PTO are pretty terrible at taking all the time they're given. Plan ahead for big eventsFirst, you'll want to take stock of how many days you actually have. Do you have different buckets to pull from, like vacation days versus personal days, or do you have one PTO bank to account for? Once you have that baseline, think about the big events throughout the year you know you'll want time off for. Then do the same for any big family events, school breaks, graduations, celebrations and other gatherings on your radar.
BANGKOK — A court in military-ruled Myanmar convicted the country’s ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi of corruption on Friday, sentencing her to seven years in prison in the last of a string of criminal cases against her, a source with direct knowledge of the proceedings confirmed to NBC News. The 77-year-old Suu Kyi has also been convicted of several other offenses, including illegally importing and possessing walkie-talkies, violating coronavirus restrictions, breaching the country’s official secrets act, sedition and election fraud. Suu Kyi was the de facto head of government, holding the title of state counsellor. The U.N. said in August that Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, the head of Myanmar’s military-installed government, had “expressed openness to arranging a meeting at the right time” between Suu Kyi and U.N. special envoy Noeleen Heyzer. “The Myanmar junta’s farcical, totally unjust parade of charges and convictions against Aung San Suu Kyi amount to politically motivated punishment designed to hold her behind bars for the rest of her life,” he said.

I Finally Found a Hat That Fits Over a Bun, Top-Knot or Updo

When I started wearing my hair in a bun virtually every day, I discovered that wearing a sun hat became…a real pain in the buns. Suddenly, the bucket hat styles that I’d loved for years either didn’t stay on my bun-topped head or looked rather ridiculous—like a lumpy Cat in the Hat. The North Face hat is made for outdoor adventures, fabricated from a durable, quick-dry recycled nylon with a perfectly-angled bucket brim with some oomph to it. The North Face name and logo comes embroidered boldly and noticeably smack-dab on the forehead, which was a little too much for me. Once I started wearing it all the time, in my Brooklyn neighborhood, I realized it was more an object of envy than ridicule.
