But new research suggests that one English woman convicted of witchcraft and condemned to be hanged may have escaped the noose. Alice Molland – who has long held the tragic record of being the last woman in England to be hanged as a “witch” – was sentenced to death in 1685. In June 1685, Avis Molland – by now widowed – emerges in court records as an informant about a potential revolt, at a time when the Duke of Monmouth was attempting a rebellion against the king. Avis Molland died a free woman eight years later. Worland has spent 18 years unearthing victims’ details, and has successfully campaigned to have memorials to executed “witches” in Colchester and Chelmsford.

The recent data breach that exposed the sensitive information of some 300,000 Avis customers highlighted some critical vulnerabilities within the rental car industry. Yet, there's another, often overlooked security risk when drivers use a rental car: the personal data you unknowingly leave behind when syncing your mobile device to a rental car's infotainment system. Privacy policies say the customer is responsibleExperts agree that car rental companies need to start implementing best practices to better protect customers. Despite this, many rental companies lag in applying adequate protections. When you read those car rental agreements, they say you leave the data in the car, it's your problem.

Stocks had a rough week, topped off with a pummeling Friday after the July jobs data came in weaker than expected. Until then, bad economic news was good news for the stock market, because it meant the Federal Reserve would start cutting interest rates sooner. On Thursday, a drop in U.S. manufacturing activity for July and a jump in initial jobless claims dragged down the market. Next week is light on economic data, so expect earnings reports and CEO commentaries to drive the market action. Hedge funds added more exposure to financial and tech names in the last quarter, according to Morgan Stanley. Castagno highlighted that in the last quarter, hedge funds seemed to shift their portfolio allocations toward the information technology and financials sectors, moving away from health care. However, hedge funds still remain most overweight stocks within the health care, consumer discretionary and industrials industries. Hedge funds have recently increased their ownership shares in retailer Bath & Body Works by 2.5%. Wolfe Research upgraded shares of Alaska Air Group to outperform from peer perform last Friday.

Owning overcrowded trades that are most popular among hedge funds could be risky for individual investors in the event of a herd-like stampede by systematic traders, according to Morgan Stanley, which looked at stocks to avoid. Despite their popularity and performance, none of the megacap tech stocks made the list of overcrowded stocks. That's because their enormous share count makes hedge funds' ownership less significant. Morgan Stanley found that hedge funds were most overweight in consumer discretionary, industrial and health care stocks last quarter, while they were most bearish on technology and consumer staples companies. Janus Henderson , The New York Times , Planet Fitness and Wayfair were also on the list of crowded trades.
