Israel said Palestinians can safely travel south along two major routes until 4 p.m. local time, as civilians seek to leave the northern part of the Gaza Strip ahead of an expected Israeli military ground campaign.
“If you care about yourself and your loved ones, go south as instructed,” the Israeli military’s Arabic spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Another spokesperson for Israel’s military said Israel wouldn’t necessarily launch an operation immediately after the deadline as it will take time for Gazans to travel south, adding that Hamas is responsible for evacuating people who can’t manage by themselves.
