At least that seems to be the message — both symbolically and stylistically — embedded in Kamala Harris’ second ever Vogue cover. It's the vice president's second cover for the title. Annie Leibovitz/VogueThe image, by fashion photographer Annie Leibovitz, is a far cry from Harris’ first Vogue cover back in November 2021. Annie Leibovitz/VogueThis time around, though, neither Vogue nor Harris’ team seemed concerned with signposting her authenticity and approachability (Harris’ viral meme-ridden campaign seems to have handled that). But for most Harris’ fans, the second Vogue cover is something of a full circle moment — righting the perceived “wrongs” of the first.

Walking into the Chrysler Building for the first time in 2018 was a “pinch-me moment” for Sophie Smith. She was there for an interview with the theater department of Creative Artists Agency, and it would be her first job out of college. “Walking through the lobby every day was such a treat. Whenever we had guests to the office, you felt proud to work there.”That grand, Art Deco-style lobby — with its red Moroccan marble and vast Edward Trumbull ceiling mural — evokes a sense of nostalgia and glamour. Since it opened in 1930, the Chrysler Building has remained an architectural marvel that is recognizable to people who’ve never even been to New York, with its terraced crown and countless references in pop culture.

CNN —Joe Biden’s family on Sunday encouraged the president to stay in the 2024 race and privately discussed whether top aides should be fired on the heels of Biden’s stunningly poor debate performance, which has thrown his campaign into turmoil. Biden’s family, including first lady Jill Biden, son Hunter Biden and their grandchildren, convened at Camp David for a previously scheduled get-together and implored the president to keep fighting in his bid for reelection, Biden advisers told CNN. Biden, however, is known for being loyal to and protective of his close advisers, and does not like to fire aides. The admiration and support that Biden’s family showed the president Sunday mirrored the first lady’s effusive public praise for her husband in recent days. The opinion of Biden’s family would be crucial in determining his political future – even more so than the president’s famously insular inner circle of top advisers.

And at next month’s upcoming Games, Louis Vuitton are hoping they too will become a hallmark of the same grand occasion. The Olympic and Paralympic medals will be housed in a Louis Vuitton trunk. Annie Leibovitz/Courtesy Louis VuittonLVMH – the luxury conglomerate that owns Louis Vuitton – spent €150 million ($163 million) on its sponsorship deal with the Olympics, Vogue reported citing sources, though calculating the precise returns on this investment is “difficult,” said Beccari. “We are very close to sport,” Beccari said, recalling the slogan “Victory travels in Louis Vuitton,” the fashion house used when one of its trunks housed the FIFA World Cup in 2010. From Louis VuittonWhile Louis Vuitton posted record profits last year and LVMH outperformed other luxury brands, the current economic environment with rising inflation leaving consumers with less disposable income poses challenges ahead, though Beccari downplayed such difficulties.

Actor and comedian Mindy Kaling hosted the program, which ended at around 10 p.m., and late night host Stephen Colbert moderated a conversation with Biden, Clinton and Obama. Colbert acknowledged one protester and asked Biden about the U.S. role in ensuring a peaceful and prosperous future for both Israelis and Palestinians. Outside the New York venue Thursday, more than 100 pro-Palestinian protesters chanted slogans like "Biden, Biden, you're a liar," and waved Palestinian flags and signs with anti-war messages. Biden and Trump are polling neck-and-neck, with 46% of voters supporting Trump and 45% supporting Biden, according to a March poll by CNBC. During Thursday's moderated discussion, Colbert asked Clinton what he would say to voters who do not feel like the economy is strong.

Washington CNN —President Joe Biden on Thursday will join Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, the only living two-term Democratic presidents, aiming to use their star power to woo big-pocketed donors as Biden tries to join their ranks. The fundraiser is being held off-camera, though pool reporters will be able to report on the three presidents’ remarks. The Biden campaign said ahead of the fundraiser it had raised more than $25 million – making it the most successful single political fundraiser ever in terms of dollars raised. The fundraiser on Thursday is expected to be just the beginning of Obama’s involvement in Biden’s campaign. He is expected to take a larger role in Biden’s campaign – including traveling to college campuses and crucial battleground stakes – closer to November.

Unlike Obama and Clinton before him, Biden is running against a candidate only a few years his junior. It was a twist on how Clinton answered a question about Dole's age during the second presidential debate in 1996. There is not much precedent for the event Biden's campaign is putting on Thursday. Obama, Biden and Clinton will inevitably go down memory lane during a discussion moderated by comedian Stephen Colbert. Aside from private conversations, Biden also often directs his top aides to follow up with Obama or Clinton on various topics of conversation.

Washington CNN —Barack Obama spent several hours last Friday in the family dining room of the White House, visiting his former vice president, Joe Biden. Obama’s biggest embrace of Biden’s reelection effort comes Thursday at a star-studded Manhattan fundraiser featuring Biden, Obama and former President Bill Clinton. As president, Biden has also been in frequent touch with Clinton, sources familiar say. “President Obama once said to me that every president is a reflection of the previous president, and he’s right,” Messina said. “Trump was the complete opposite of Obama, and Biden is the complete opposite of Trump.

This year’s edition celebrates the African continent as the birthplace of coffee (widely considered to be Ethiopia). Tim Rogers, a sought-after New York hairstylist who fashioned gold-standard looks for a long list of notables, including Adele, Yoko Ono and Roger Federer, and commanded gold-standard prices to match, died on Nov. 3 at his home in Gaylordsville, Conn. His father, Ian Rogers, said the death came after a brief illness, which he did not specify. He worked with the renowned hairstylist Garren at his salon at the Henri Bendel department store on Fifth Avenue, and at the Sharon Dorram Color at Sally Hershberger salon on the Upper East Side, before partnering with Ms. Hershberger, another high-profile hairstylist, at a salon on West 26th Street in Manhattan in 2016. “Tim was able to sit with clients and determine exactly what would work best for their style,” Ms. Hershberger wrote in an email. “His overall style was very polished and classic and stylish, with a bit of playfulness — a prototypical British hairstylist, which was unique in New York.”Mr. Rogers became a fixture in the fashion world.

This article is part of the Fine Arts & Exhibits special section on the art world’s expanded view of what art is and who can make it. Annie Leibovitz often says she is obsessed. It requires drive, she said, and “you have to be obsessed.”All of these passions — and more — appear in “Annie Leibovitz at Work,” a show of about 300 photographs at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Ark. The exhibition, which runs through Jan. 29 before traveling to other museums, is unlike any Ms. Leibovitz, 74, has ever done. When Ms. Walton suggested that Ms. Leibovitz might want to exhibit at the museum as well, Ms. Leibovitz replied that she was more interested in making new work than in displaying what she had already done.

Annie Leibovitz is one of the world’s most celebrated and prolific photographers, with a deep portfolio of famous portraits, from John Lennon and Yoko Ono to Michelle Obama. In addition to owning a home in Rhinebeck, N.Y., Ms. Leibovitz has bought and sold several properties in Manhattan. Among them, a co-op in Chelsea and a three-building compound she assembled in the West Village in the early 2000s. In 2014, looking to be closer to her children’s school, she purchased a sprawling duplex on the Upper West Side. But now resettled downtown after buying an apartment on West Street in the West Village just last year, Ms. Leibovitz is putting the duplex at 88 Central Park West, a.k.a.

Though the images in the calendar have become more diverse, the 2024 edition was the first installment produced by a Black photographer. Known for making bold, colorful images, Mr. Gyasi, who is also the first African photographer to shoot the Pirelli calendar, has tried to challenge traditional narratives about Africa as well as Western beauty ideals in his work. He said the opportunity to shoot the calendar was too good to turn down, partly because he would be following in the footsteps of celebrated photographers like Annie Leibovitz, Tim Walker and Albert Watson. For his edition, which focuses on the themes of Black empowerment and mastering time, Mr. Gyasi also assembled an all-Black cast. Everyone featured in the calendar has inspired him, he said, “at times when I’ve thought cracking the ceiling and to belong in certain spaces was just not possible.”
