Despite that, she said, Swift's music has been a "universal language" that's helped her connect with everyone from the fathers of fans to women who see themselves in the singer.

NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) — A United Nations official said on Tuesday that her experience in negotiating an end to decades of conflict in her native Colombia may help her as she seeks to rekindle talks over Cyprus’ ethnic division. “I was part of that team that we finally reached a peace agreement” in Colombia, Holguín told reporters after her first meeting with the Greek Cypriot President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides. Only Turkey recognizes a 1983 Turkish Cypriot declaration of independence and maintains more than 35,000 troops in the island’s northern third. Turkey and the Turkish Cypriots say the only way to peace is a two-state deal, ditching an agreement to reunify the island as a federation composed of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot zones. "Certainly, we believe that if there’s the same political will from the other side, the resumption of talks can happen very quickly.”

Men are getting rich from AI. Women, not so much.

New research finds that female-led AI companies are missing out on the global rush to invest in AI. AI startups founded by women in the UK raised six times less than those founded by men in the past decade. This occurs even as the number of female-founded AI companies that are launching, rises. "One of our biggest priorities is ensuring AI models are fair and unbiased," she said. "While AI is heavily male-dominated and we still see a big gender disparity at AI events in San Francisco, we're hopeful this will change as more women become involved in AI companies.

NASA astronaut Frank Rubio peers out of a window aboard the SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft Freedom while docked to the International Space Station. I don't know if NASA's Angela Hart is a Sixers fan, but her take on the current landscape of private space station development matches the "trust the process" rallying cry that the Philadelphia basketball team made so famous. And I agree with Hart, NASA's top commercial space station official: It's early days of companies taking the lead on orbital research habitats. To rewind a bit here: The International Space Station is expected to retire in 2030, so NASA is helping fund development of next-generation orbital habitats. With all that said, three key facts in the private space station landscape haven't changed:

Also seeding tech start-ups are Kimmy and Sergio Paluch, who founded Beta Boom, which funds underrepresented tech entrepreneurs who lack easy access to capital. Like many other recent arrivals, Ms. Paluch said, she wanted to be part of the evolving city but was also acutely aware that the growth had raised housing prices. The state, unlike many others, does not require developers to include affordable housing in their projects. In the past, “you had to look really hard to find the underground, the arts, the music,” said Ms. Brown, who is also the executive director of Craft Lake City, which organizes arts festivals in the city. “But you do not have to go outside of our state to find incredible talent,” she added.

Americans are moving for new jobs at the lowest rate in decades, per a recent Challenger survey. Experts say high housing costs, an aging population, and remote work are among the reasons why. "That has fallen steadily since, as housing costs have risen and companies have moved to where talent pools are located. Imagine a place for making things: a simple room, with little but the tools you need and the ideal never-too-bright light. They also wanted somewhere to park their car, a nearly 18-foot-long 1966 Chevy Impala Super Sport convertible. Researching bespoke garages online, the couple discovered the work of another couple, Max Worrell and Jejon Yeung, two architects in their 40s who, after meeting in their Yale graduate program, co-founded the firm Worrell Yeung in 2015. Several years ago in upstate New York, they had built a Japanese-and-Scandinavian-influenced minimalist annex with space for their clients to relax — and to store their vintage Ford Bronco. It was exactly what Burst, 62, and McDonough, 67, pictured for themselves.
The prospective class action complaint, filed in 2021 by two members of the annual paid subscription service Amazon Prime, alleged Amazon was unlawfully "tying" the online sale of third-party products to the use of the company's "Fulfillment by Amazon" program. The lawsuit said Amazon's alleged anticompetitive fulfillment practices had harmed "hundreds of millions of its loyal customers." Amazon's attorneys argued that fulfillment services are sold not to consumers who buy products but to third-party businesses that are selling goods on the company's platform. The antitrust case against Amazon was among private and state actions alleging violations of competition law. The case is Angela Hogan et al v. Amazon.com Inc, U.S. District Court, Western District of Washington, No.
The Food and Drug Administration on Friday approved a new nasal spray to treat migraines. The spray will be available in July and is designed to treat migraines in 15 minutes. The drug, which Pfizer acquired when it bought out Biohaven Pharmaceuticals last year for $11.6 billion, will provide an alternative to oral migraine medication, NBC News reported. The drug is not the first nasal medication of its kind, but it's anticipated to work more rapidly — the medication is intended to offer relief within 15 minutes, according to Pfizer. "Among my migraine patients, one of the most important attributes of an acute treatment option is how quickly it works."

It's kind of like more unfiltered (and sometimes messier) version of the LinkedIn layoff post that gained steam throughout the last year. And it's a sharp turn from viewing a layoff as something to be embarrassed about and keep private. Young workers aren't staying quiet. Many young workers are using the platform to process their feelings, especially when they receive the news at while working from home and don't have colleagues or friends nearby to vent with. If not for connection, viewers may flock to these layoff reaction TikToks hoping to calm their own anxieties about layoffs.
A jury on Monday convicted four members of the extremist group the Oath Keepers of seditious conspiracy. The trial, which started Dec. 12, included testimony from Brian Ulrich, a member of the Oath Keepers’ Georgia chapter who had pleaded guilty to seditious conspiracy and obstruction of an official proceeding. ... I’m not afraid and I’m ready to f---ing go.”The four defendants were charged as part of the same seditious conspiracy case involving Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes that went to trial in October. Rhodes and Kelly Meggs, the leader of the group’s Florida chapter, were convicted of seditious conspiracy in November. The maximum sentence for seditious conspiracy — a rarely used Civil War era statute — is 20 years in federal prison.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The suspect in the killings of four University of Idaho students last month had been known to some employees at a Pennsylvania brewery to make "creepy" and inappropriate comments, the business owner said. The brewery sometimes had "unusual characters," Serulneck said, but he remembered Kohberger from some interactions he had with female patrons and staff. “Staff put in there, ‘Hey, this guy makes creepy comments, keep an eye on him. Serulneck said Kohberger would ask the female staff or customers who they were at the brewery with, where they lived and what their work schedule was. Kohberger had not returned to the brewery since Serulneck approached him months ago about the complaints from his staff, the owner said.
The Justice Department prosecuted the first Oath Keepers seditious conspiracy case earlier this fall with mixed success – two leaders, including Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes, were convicted of the charge while three others were acquitted. That adjustment was on full display Monday, as prosecutor Troy Edwards delivered his opening argument to the jury. Prosecutors struggled at times during the first trial to explain whether Rhodes directly ordered his militia to enter the Capitol building. Rhodes told them it was now time to take their place in history,” Edwards said. When the Oath Keepers heard that the Capitol had been breached, Edwards said they hustled toward the chaos.

As an outbreak of Ebola spreads in Uganda, officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention remain confident that the virus can be contained. The people most at risk, therefore, are household contacts and health care workers treating Ebola patients. In 2019, a vaccine was approved for the Ebola virus that caused the 2014 outbreak. The current Ebola outbreak, however, is caused by a different species of the virus, and no vaccines or direct treatments are available. The Ebola virus causes hemorrhagic fever, leading to problems with how the body clots blood.
