The shoplifter knew the geography of the big gleaming Target store in TriBeCa as well as he knew his dingy little $20-a-week room uptown. He popped through the sliding front door, where a security guard stood posted. That was how long it would take for the police to respond to the 911 call the security guard would be making right now. The shoplifter, David Andino, clambered down that escalator, hurtling past shoppers heading up. Andino scooped what he could into a laundry bag, seeking out the brands he knew he could easily sell.

New York CNN —ABC News President Kim Godwin is skating on thinner and thinner ice. OConnell, according to people familiar with the matter, has been astonished by Godwin’s management — or lack thereof — at the network. “She has to take swift moves,” a person familiar with the inner workings of ABC News candidly told me of OConnell. Those lieutenants include Stacia Deshishku, executive editor and senior vice president; Derek Medina, executive vice president; and Jose Andino, vice president of the office of the president and process management. As OConnell’s not-so-subtle evaluation has played out at ABC News, Godwin has privately voiced displeasure about being layered away from Iger and bemoaned Disney’s micromanagement, CNN was told.

He also created an LLC under his initials in 2021, seemingly for the sole purpose of releasing Sterling's music. But since Sterling's death, Bolno has worked to distance himself from the tragedy and buff his reputation online. On June 29, 2023, three months after Sterling's death, Ozuna and Andino signed to SB Projects, Scooter Braun's management company. Since Sterling's death, Bolno has appeared to try to distance himself from the tragedy. However, in September, a message from Centeno's email address sent on behalf of Sterling's mother asked Insider to stop reporting on Sterling's death.

Gonzalez, a protege of former President Rafael Correa who has promised to revive his social programs, won 33% support, while Noboa, son of prominent banana businessman and former presidential candidate Alvaro Noboa, was a surprise second-place with 24% of the vote. The contest was darkened by the assassination of anti-corruption candidate Fernando Villavicencio earlier this month. The crime is still under investigation, but Villavicencio, who was replaced as a candidate by his friend and fellow investigative journalist Christian Zurita, came third with 16%. Noboa seemingly gained support after performing well in the only televised debate of the campaign. But oil and mining guilds say their industries are needed to shore up Ecuador's battered economy and that bans would expose the areas to illegal mining and deforestation. Outgoing President Guillermo Lasso, who moved ahead elections after lawmakers attempted to oust him, has failed to raise oil production or attract more mining investment as violence and social problems have worsened. A "yes" vote in both referendums could complicate finances for his successor. State oil company Petroecuador says a "yes" on the Yasuni referendum would cost the country $13.8 billion in income over the next two decades. But residents say mining will threaten high altitude wetlands, water and animals like the spectacled bear.

Argentina President Alberto Fernandez (R) and Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (L) greet each other after signing a series of agreements during a news conference in Buenos Aires. Argentina and Brazil, the two largest economies in South America, are in early talks to create a common currency, as part of a coordinated bid to reduce reliance on the U.S. dollar. Speaking on his first international visit since taking office, Lula said that the currency would initially be designed for trade and transactions between Brazil and Argentina. Brazil's Finance Minister Fernando Haddad said that the adoption of a common currency was not designed to replace the Brazilian real and the Argentine peso. "Developing and implementing a common South American currency is, therefore, pie in the sky."
Briana Sanchez/Pool via REUTERS/File PhotoDALLAS, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on Tuesday failed in his bid to slash a nearly $50 million defamation verdict against him over his false claims that the 2012 Sandy Hook mass shooting was a hoax. The judge in that case tacked on an additional $473 million in punitive damages for Jones’ “cruel” conduct earlier this month. Evidence in both cases showed that bogus Sandy Hook claims turbocharged traffic to Infowars and drove sales of its products, including supplements and doomsday supplies. The Sandy Hook families have intervened in the case, alleging Jones is using the proceedings to shield his assets and avoid paying. Another defamation lawsuit against Jones brought by Sandy Hook parents is set to go to trial in Austin, Texas, in March.
