CNN —Terry Anderson, the former Mideast correspondent for The Associated Press who was kidnapped in 1985 and held captive for nearly seven years in Lebanon, has died at 76, his daughter told CNN. The cause of death was unknown, though his daughter told the AP he had recently had heart surgery. “You’re sorry, sorry for your family, sorry you were dumb enough to get captured,” Anderson told CNN once about his capture. In a 2016 interview, Anderson told CNN that he didn’t think about his captivity often. And you do it, day after day after day,” he said.

Watt for AP Defensive Player of the Year. First-place votes are worth five points, second-place votes are three and third-place votes are one. Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr. won the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award, outgaining both Jalen Carter and Kobie Turner by two first-place votes. The US government has designated all five Americans as being wrongfully detained. The release of the Americans would bring to an end a years-long nightmare for those who had been detained. The agreement, which has already prompted criticism from Republicans, also involves the release of five Iranians in US custody. The overall contours of the release protest began to crystallize in Doha about seven months ago after years of indirect negotiations. The first tangible public steps under the deal took place about five weeks ago, when four of the Americans were transferred into house arrest.

ZURICH, Dec 12 (Reuters) - Roche's (ROG.S) head of its pharmaceuticals division will leave the drugmaker at the end of the year, the Swiss company said on Monday, as it confirmed other parts of its succession plan. Former Genentech boss Bill Anderson "has decided to pursue opportunities outside of Roche," Roche said, with a successor due to be named by March 2023. Schinecker will replace Severin Schwan, who is slated to become chairman after 14 years as CEO of Roche. He has been instrumental in shaping Roche’s transformation and I wish him all the best for the future," Schwan said in a statement. He had been CEO of Roche's pharmaceuticals business since 2019.
