He says that quiet vacationing made him more productive at work because he was so happy. Over the course of 15 months, I spent a total of 10 weeks quiet vacationing from my fully remote job. I think quiet vacationing may be good for productivity; I was genuinely so happy while traveling the world, and it translated into my productivity at work. On some quiet vacationing days, I had to work a little later to get things across the line, but I became very efficient. A quiet vacation day in Europe might look something like this: Wake up around 8 or 9 a.m. and eat breakfast at the hotel.

Dries Van Noten Takes His Exit
  + stars: | 2024-06-15 | by ( Vanessa Friedman | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
On a recent afternoon, the designer Dries Van Noten sat in the sprawling old warehouse that houses his Antwerp headquarters, with its bare concrete walls, vintage oak cupboards and views over the city’s harbor. He was altering a jacket for his coming men’s wear show: a nip here, a seam moved there. Then, Mr. Van Noten said, a member of his team pointed out that it was the last piece of the men’s collection this season. As Mr. Van Noten recounted later, “I said, ‘That’s not the last piece of the men’s collection: It’s the last piece of my career.’”In March, six years after selling the company he founded in 1986 to Puig, the Spanish luxury group, Mr. Van Noten, 66, did something truly rare in fashion: He announced his retirement. This men’s wear show, next Saturday in Paris, will be his last.

From a piazza in the town of Castellabate on the Cilento coast of Italy, you may lift your eyes over the rim of your cappuccino and drink in a panorama of sky and Mediterranean Sea from Salerno to the Gulf of Policastro. Looking way, way down, a fruited plain of vineyards, lemon trees and white fig stretches to the flanks of green mountains decked with wisps of vapor. Of course, people do die in the Cilento, a region south of the Amalfi Coast. But they also live longer than most, thanks to the Mediterranean Diet, first studied in these parts. It is more accurate to say that here, eternal life is a more appealing proposition.

That rule is about to get a little less hard and fast as the Amalfi Coast gets its “own” airport. Technically it’s a reopening rather than a new airport built from scratch. ‘An important moment for the region’The Amalfi Coast is stunningly beautiful -- and it is one of the most overtouristed parts of Italy. As one does in Italy, Robert McCall likes to sit in a little cafe, watching the world pass by. McCall — an enigmatic avenger played by Denzel Washington — likes tea, but he’s fine with the coffee that a beautiful server brings him with a smile. This is the third and apparently last “Equalizer” movie that Washington will make. Maybe he’s grown tired of the franchise’s same-old ultraviolence or perhaps he’s bored with the predictable predictability of it all, even if this installment is as reliably watchable if ethically challenged as the previous ones. Whatever the case, little has changed since the first “Equalizer” (2014).
