When Chelsea Hirschhorn organized a summer gathering in July at her house in Amagansett, N.Y., she made sure to include one party trick: pottery wheels. In addition to a pool with a zip-line, an ice cream truck and a pizza truck, there was a ceramic station with pottery wheels. This summer in the Hamptons, D.J.s aren’t the only ones doing the spinning. A semi-recent fad has taken ahold of the moneyed elite who spend their summer in the coastal destination: clay camp, in which adults and children alike can try out pottery wheels at home and at parties. Ms. Bishop started her clay catering service in the summer of 2021, when people were looking for something creative to do outside — partly because of the Covid-19 pandemic — and the business blew up in popularity this year.

“Careful!” Gwyneth Paltrow called to her daughter, Apple Martin, who was walking in black Gucci heels down a stone path on the family’s property in Amagansett, N.Y. It was a muggy, overcast Saturday night, and nearby, the actress Blythe Danner, Ms. Paltrow’s mother, mingled as guests arrived for the tented, 46-person dinner near the trampoline and treehouse in the manicured yard. The stylist Rachel Zoe said she was just focused on being on time as she was getting ready: “Gwyneth is very punctual, and if she is like, sitting at 7, it is 7, maybe even 6:59.”The dinner was hosted by Ms. Paltrow and her stylist, Elizabeth Saltzman, and the occasion was the release of a new Goop serum and a Gucci summer collection. In the U.S. overall, rent prices increased by an average of 5.5% in the last year. In the posh Hamptons enclave of Amagansett, New York, rent surged by 63% for the 12 months ending May 2023 — the highest increase among all 1,865 cities examined by financial technology company SmartAsset. That's followed by cities where renters experienced price increases of 20% or more. Many of these places are also hot real estate markets where rent increases have followed rising home prices over the past few years. Here's a look at the top 10 cities where rent has grown the most:

The Hamptons are facing a summer rental glut, with over 1,000 available in August as of Wednesday. Real-estate agents said an uptick in travel and lower Wall Street bonuses are behind the glut. A glut of available properties and sky-high rental prices are adding up to a slow summer rental season, worrying real-estate agents counting on tenant demand. The hot Hamptons summer rental market, it seems, has caught a chill. "I have a summer rental that's listed for $150,000 for a month and it got an offer of $80,000.

In a wedding cake "compromise," Paltrow and Falchuk decided to serve 90 individual cakes at their wedding — 45 carrot cakes and 45 chocolate and vanilla cakes. For dinner, wedding guests were served prime rib and tortellini prepared by New York-based chef, Mario Carbone. In true Paltrow fashion, from her Valentino wedding dress to the elaborate decor, the wedding was a sight to see. We had the honor of making wedding cakes for @gwynethpaltrow + @bradfalchuk at their end of summer wedding in Amagansett. Per Goop, Paltrow and Falchuk served 45 individual carrot cakes — Paltrow's choice — and 45 chocolate and vanilla cakes — Falchuk's choice.
