"Now, broadening is apparent, with Value leading while Growth has not yet achieved July levels," Scott Chronert said in a Friday note to clients. Citi views newly added Ally Financial as "one of the best-positioned liability sensitive names," seeing the potential for total book value growth of 25% by the fourth quarter of next year. "While mistakes were clearly made with the '22 auto vintage, the short duration of this asset class implies ALLY will not be stuck with the problem beyond 2025," analyst Keith Horowitz wrote. Meanwhile, Citi has a buy rating on the stock, and its price target of $50 implies nearly 45% upside from Wednesday's close.

CNN —A group of major record labels is suing two AI startups, alleging they wrongfully used popular artists’ work to train their systems to produce copyrighted music without their consent. Udio is the company behind “BBL Drizzy,” the AI-generated song that went viral last month during the Kendrick Lamar and Drake spat. Udio was founded last year by former Google DeepMind researchers to make it “easy for anyone to create emotionally resonant music in an instant,” according to the company. The platform, which allows users to create songs with only a few prompts, relies on OpenAI’s ChatGPT for lyrics and title development. Udio and Suno did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Brazil’s National Institute of Space Research (INPE) has detected 733 fires in the Pantanal biome so far this month, with the previous record for fires in Pantanal for June being 435 registered in 2005. Morgan Stanley — Shares added 3.2% after Morgan Stanley topped first-quarter expectations on wealth management, trading and advisory results. The company reported earnings of $2.02 a share, while analysts polled by LSEG had called for $1.66 a share. Revenue came out at $15.14 billion for the period, surpassing analysts expectations of $14.41 billion. Johnson & Johnson — The stock fell slightly even after the pharmaceutical giant topped quarterly earnings expectations and benefitted from a jump in medical device sales. Revenue came in at $21.38 billion, roughly in line with the $21.4 billion expected by analysts polled by LSEG.

CNN —Former President Donald Trump said Monday that abortion rights should be left to the states, offering his clearest stance yet on one of the most delicate and contentious issues in American politics. In this case, the law of the state,” Trump said in a video posted to his Truth Social account. Trump told reporters last week that he would be making a “statement” on abortion when pressed about Florida’s six-week abortion ban, which is set to become law after a recent state Supreme Court ruling.
