CNN —A passenger plane carrying 61 people crashed outside São Paulo on Friday afternoon, killing everyone on board, according to a statement issued by airline Voepass. All of the passengers had Brazilian documents, airline officials said, though it’s not yet clear if any had dual citizenship. The Federal Trade Commission earlier this month accused Sheffield, the founder of Pioneer Natural Resources, of conspiring with OPEC and its allies to boost prices. Pallone argued that public data suggests US oil producers did not ramp up drilling during the period that Sheffield was trying to influence his rivals. Pallone sent Exxon additional document demands, including communications between Pioneer employees who were involved in developing production plans and representatives of OPEC and OPEC+. New York CNN —A congressional committee probing campus antisemitism is expanding its investigation to include Columbia University and demanding the Ivy League school turn over a trove of documents to lawmakers. Foxx is requesting that Columbia officials produce a mountain of documents to aid the investigation by February 26. Foxx cited a “pattern of deeply troubling” incidents at Columbia in recent months, including “assaults, harassment and vandalism.”Columbia is the fourth university targeted by the House investigation on campus antisemitism, joining Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. "We expect Norfolk Southern to do their part, acting on the recommendations in this assessment as well as previous ones to increase safety." Norfolk Southern said CEO Alan Shaw and members of the company’s leadership team met with Bose in Atlanta on Tuesday to review the findings. The report found Norfolk Southern had not moved quickly to embrace findings from the 2022 audit and noted little action in the last 12 months.

New York CNN —The Securities and Exchange Commission fined JPMorgan Chase $4 million for mistakenly deleting 47 million emails, many of which the regulator was trying to access as part of multiple probes. SEC regulations required JPMorgan (JPM) to retain emails for a 36-month period. Upon discovery, JPMorgan reported the deletions to the SEC in 2020. “Because the deleted records are unrecoverable, it is unknown – and unknowable – how the lost records may have affected the regulatory investigations,” the SEC order stated. “JPMorgan takes its record-keeping obligations seriously,” said Veronica Navarro, who heads JPMorgan’s corporate communications division.

The Securities and Exchange Commission fined the broker-dealer subsidiary of JPMorgan Chase $4 million for accidentally deleting about 47 million emails from early 2018, according to an administrative order Thursday. Some of those deleted emails were sought by subpoenas in at least a dozen regulatory investigations, but could no longer be retrieved, the SEC order against J.P. Morgan Securities LLC noted. Many of the emails were "business records required to be retained pursuant" to federal securities law, the order said. The firm had submitted a settlement offer in anticipation of administrative proceedings related to the deletions, and the SEC accepted that offer. In its order Thursday, the SEC noted JPMorgan in 2016 began a project "to delete from its system older communications and documents no longer required to be retained."

The Pentagon announced Thursday it will pay SpaceX for Ukraine to use its Starlink service, per Bloomberg. It comes after Elon Musk complained that donated terminals were costing his company too much money. The European Union had previously considered stepping in too, over concerns Musk could stop the vital service on a whim. But in October, Musk grew concerned over how much the operation was costing SpaceX, which had donated Starlink units to Ukraine. The billionaire said "only a small percentage" of Starlink terminals had been paid for, and the cost would exceed $100 million by the end of 2022.
