CNN —Rep. Elissa Slotkin will win the competitive Michigan Senate race, CNN projects, keeping the seat in Democratic hands and making her the youngest Democratic woman elected to the Senate. Rogers called Slotkin and conceded the race, according to two sources. “Donald Trump and I were both elected by the people of Michigan. The GOP is also looking to defend its narrow majority in the US House of Representatives, though it remains uncalled. Do not trust him,” Slotkin fired back as Rogers vowed in their first debate that he would not defy the will of the Michigan people in Washington.

CNN —In the closely watched battleground state of Michigan, election officials are under the microscope, with isolated mistakes or missteps serving as fodder for election deniers to lay the groundwork for widespread doubt of election results. Some of the confusion appears to have originated from a post on X by Matthew DePerno, one of the more high-profile election deniers in Michigan. DePerno has pleaded not guilty in the voting machines case. When it does happen, we take it extremely seriously,” Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Washtenaw County Prosecutor Eli Savit said in a statement. Fundraising exploded, with Harris’ campaign saying she raised $126 million between Sunday afternoon and Tuesday evening. And Democrats were more eager to devote their own time to working to elect Harris: More than 100,000 people signed up to volunteer for her bid, and more than 2,000 applied for campaign jobs, Harris campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said in a Wednesday memo. Wisconsin is the latest state to bring charges against people connected to the former president involved in the broad effort to overturn the presidential election results. “We hereby reaffirm that Joseph R. Biden, Jr. won the 2020 presidential election and that we were not the duly elected presidential electors for the State of Wisconsin for the 2020 presidential election,” a portion of their statement said. “We oppose any attempt to undermine the public’s faith in the ultimate results of the 2020 presidential election.”Chesebro was previously charged, and pleaded guilty, in the Georgia probe. This undercut his testimony to state prosecutors in which he said the fake electors were contingent on winning the litigation. CNN —A man acquitted last year on charges linked to a 2020 plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is now looking to unseat an incumbent county sheriff. Eric Molitor has filed to run in the Republican primary this August against Trent Taylor, the sheriff of deep-red Wexford County in Northern Michigan. Taylor told CNN he believes he’s constitutionally obligated to enforce the state’s laws and that it would be “reckless” not to do so, as Molitor has said he would. Robert MacNeil, the Canadian-born journalist who delivered sober evening newscasts for more than two decades on PBS as the co-anchor of “The MacNeil/Lehrer Report,” later expanded as “The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour,” died early Friday in Manhattan. His death, at NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital, was confirmed by his daughter Alison MacNeil. But he came to reject the flashier style of the commercial American networks, and in 1971 he joined the fledgling Public Broadcasting Service. But an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, “Hidden Faces: Covered Portraits of the Renaissance,” reveals how many works of art from the period were deliberately covered by painted panels or shutters, or contained additional compositions on their reverse side. “These multisided and covered portraits have never been the subject of an exhibition before,” said the show’s curator, Alison Manges Nogueira, in a video call with CNN.
