Disney CEO Bob Iger announced a new business structure Wednesday and further details emerged Thursday. ESPN and ESPN+ will form a separate unit, led by Jimmy Pitaro. Hollywood is already busy sharing memes about Bergman and Walden and how they will share and compete for power. As part of the cuts, Iger has directed his reports to lay off 7,000 staffers. A Thursday morning press release outlined all the shared services units that will now come under Bergman, Walden, and Pitaro.

Disney, Netflix Inc (NFLX.O) and other companies are working to attract streaming customers amid growing competition for online viewers. Viewers can reach the page via QR codes under "Shop this Story" on the Disney+ page for a specific series or movie. A shop tab will appear on Disney+ primary profiles for U.S. subscribers 18 and older, the company said. U.S. Disney+ customers also will have the option to buy exclusive "Frozen 2" and "Lightyear" products.

The Walt Disney Company has named its Alisa Bowen president of Disney+. On Thursday, the company said Bowen, who had been its executive vice president of business operations for Disney streaming, will immediately take over as the lead executive at its Disney+ subscription service. Michael Paull previously served as president of Disney+ in addition to the company's other streaming brands. In the new standalone role, Bowen is expected to lead the launch of Disney+'s ad-supported tier as well as the promotion of the service and its slate of content. Bowen joined Disney in 2017 as its senior vice president of digital media and chief technology officer of the company's international operations.
