The producer of "Blade Runner 2049" is suing Elon Musk and Tesla for copyright infringement. Alcon Entertainment said Musk used imagery inspired by the film at its "We, Robot" event. Advertisement"Blade Runner 2049" producer Alcon Entertainment filed a lawsuit against Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Monday, citing images he displayed at his big "We, Robot" event. "Blade Runner 2049" is a sequel to director Ridley Scott's dystopian sci-film "Blade Runner," released in 1982. "Alcon did not want BR2049 to be affiliated with Musk, Tesla, or any Musk company, for all of these reasons," Alcon added.

Elon Musk, his car company Tesla and Warner Brothers Discovery were sued Monday over their alleged artificial intelligence-fueled copyright infringement of images from the film “Blade Runner 2049” to promote Tesla’s robotaxi concept. The Cybercab is Tesla’s concept of a “dedicated robotaxi” that the company says it wants to produce by 2027, and sell for under $30,000. “Alcon refused all permissions “and adamantly objected to Defendants suggesting any affiliation between BR2049 and Tesla, Musk or any Musk-owned company,” the civil suit in Los Angeles federal court alleges. Musk has promised Tesla shareholders a robotaxi for more than a decade. However, Tesla has never produced a vehicle that is safe to use without a human ready to steer or brake at any time.

Bausch + Lomb parent company Bausch Health is spinning off the eye-care company with an upcoming IPO which will list on the New York Stock Exchange and TSX with the ticker symbol “BLCO”. This would greatly benefit BLCO stockholders, of which Bausch Health is the largest. As an 88% owner of BLCO, Bausch Health's value derived from such a sale would be $12.32 billion. Adding the value of the proceeds from BLCO sale, the Xifaxan cash flows and RemainCo yields a total value of $25.93 billion for Bausch Health. After subtracting 100% of the Bausch Health debt, that would yield an equity value of $10.49 billion or $28.19 per share.

Before there was tourism, there was pilgrimage: a trip of endurance, hardship and ecstasy in celebration of one’s faith. On an epic pilgrimage of his own, one writer ventures into the heart of three great religions in Bolivia, Mongolia and Iraq. The Imam Hussein shrine in Karbala the day after Ashura. “They’re poor, but they come thousands of kilometers for the love of Imam Hussein.” PILGRIMAGE WAS A great equalizer. “Labaik ya Hussein,” came the solemn chorus of surrounding voices.

Novartis buyback offers partial cure for M&A risk

LONDON, July 18 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Novartis’s (NOVN.S) bumper buyback will offer a little relief to investors. Many had been waiting to see what the $225 billion Swiss pharma giant would do with an extra $20 billion burning a hole in its pocket after Roche(ROG.S) bought back its stake in 2021. It needs new drugs to replenish its pipeline and boost an ailing share price, which has still not recovered since the pandemic. But on Tuesday, CEO Vasant Narasimhan said he will launch a $15 billion buyback programme. The Swiss drugmaker’s $15.4 billion of net debt is less than 1 times its forecast 2023 EBITDA, according to Refinitiv.

Sandoz launches rival version of AbbVie's arthritis drug Humira

[1/2] The logo of Swiss drugmaker Novartis and its divisions Sandoz and Alcon are seen at an office building in Rotkreuz, Switzerland, January 29, 2020. REUTERS/Arnd Wiegmann/Fle PhotoJuly 1 (Reuters) - Swiss drugmaker Sandoz said on Saturday it had launched a biosimilar version of AbbVie Inc's (ABBV.N) big selling arthritis treatment Humira, adding to U.S. competition for the drug that started in January. The Novartis (NOVN.S)-owned company said its drug, Hyrimoz, will be priced at a 5% discount off Humira’s current list price of $6,922 per month, but that it was also offering an unbranded version of Humira at an 81% discount. The lower-priced version may attract healthcare systems that act as both an insurer and a provider and typically do not seek after-market discounts, as pharmacy benefit managers do. Rival Amgen Inc (AMGN.O) was the first to launch a biosimilar of Humira earlier this year, which debuted at a 5% and 55% discount to Humira, depending on who was purchasing.

NEW YORK, Feb 17 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Brent Saunders is back in charge of a pharmaceutical company, which usually means one thing: M&A. The buyer, Actavis, appointed Saunders CEO of the combined company. Bausch + Lomb remains a subsidiary of Bausch Health, which owns nearly 90% of the shares. Considering Bausch Health’s stake in Bausch + Lomb is worth more than $5 billion, the implication is that bondholders are in charge. Saunders was CEO of Bausch + Lomb from 2010 until 2013, when it was acquired by Valeant Pharmaceuticals.
