The screenshot of a purported social media post from actor Mel Gibson showing an hourglass within an Israeli flag background is fake, according to a representative for the actor, who added that Gibson has no social media accounts.
In response to the viral screenshot, Gibson’s representative Alan Nierob said in an email: “It is a fake post as Mr. Gibson does not have any social media platforms.”Reuters found no evidence of Mel Gibson having a verified account on social media platforms including Facebook, X and Instagram.
No authentic post by Gibson resembling the fabricated screenshot could be found on any social media platforms.
Gibson apologized in 2006 for antisemitic remarks he made during an arrest in Los Angeles for driving while intoxicated, according to reports by ABC News and The Guardian.
