CNN —A woman who flew as a stowaway on a Delta Air Lines flight from New York to Paris earlier this week remains in France after causing a disturbance on a flight scheduled to take her back to the United States Saturday, according to two law enforcement sources. The woman was removed from the would-be return flight before takeoff in Paris, the officials told CNN. Nearly 2.7 million passengers traveled on airplanes that day, ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, according to TSA data. The stowaway is a woman between 55 and 60 years old and has a Russian passport, according to an airport official in Paris. CNN —A flight packed with vacationers had to be aborted in midair because a technical mistake meant the aircraft failed to pressurize. The investigation revealed that switches that regulate the air pressure inside the plane, known as bleed air switches, were turned off during maintenance work carried out on the air conditioning system before takeoff. The oversight was also not detected by the pilots, either before takeoff or during “after takeoff checks,” the report found. Once the error emerged, the pilots turned the switches back on but the report found that the crew failed to take other actions set out in the Quick Reaction Handbook (QRH) in response to the warning. It can also be the result of carbon monoxide poisoning or breathing in too much smoke from a fire.

A California man was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport after he allegedly tried to check two suitcases filled with clothing soaked in methamphetamine, including a cow pajama onesie, federal prosecutors announced Tuesday. Prosecutors have indicted Raj Matharu, 31, with one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, according to a Department of Justice news release. Matharu is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles. Officers field-tested a sample of the residue, which yielded positive results for meth. The total weight of the meth-soaked clothing items was roughly 71.5 pounds.

The storm, already dropping snow over the Rockies Wednesday morning, is forecast to race east throughout today to the Midwest and Northeast through Thanksgiving. For road travelers, I-80, I-64, I-75 will be impacted by rain Wednesday, and I-25 and I-70 with snow in the Rockies. Thanksgiving Day will bring a mess of rain for the I-95 corridor from Florida to Maine, and accumulating snow for the interior Northeast and northern New England. The iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will go on rain or shine, as the Big Apple is forecast to see soaking rain with temperatures in the 40s. People enter LaGuardia Airport in New York City on one of the busiest travel days of the year on Tuesday.

The most hectic travel days of the year are approaching, with the TSA expecting what may be the busiest Thanksgiving travel period on record. Those flying with food to bring to their Thanksgiving feast should know in advance which holiday favorites are permitted on flights. Frozen goods are permitted on flights, as are ice packs, but they must be frozen solid while going through security checkpoints. TSA also urges travelers to properly store their food to prevent foodborne illness.
