Hong Kong/New York CNN —Boeing has delivered its first 737 Max to a Chinese airline for the first time in nearly five years, according to flight data, in a rare spot of good news for the embattled company. According to flight tracking website Flightradar 24, China Southern Airlines flight CZ5073 departed from Boeing Field in Seattle, Washington, on Wednesday for China via Honolulu. The use of the airline’s flight number, instead of a Boeing one, suggests the ownership of the plane has already been transferred. The plane, a 737 Max 8 according to flight data, was built in September 2019 and has been parked in Boeing’s Seattle factory since then, according to flight tracking sites Flightradar 24 and Aviation Flights. REUTERS/Peter Cziborra/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsOct 12 (Reuters) - Boeing (BA.N) and Spirit AeroSystems (SPR.N) have expanded the scope of their ongoing inspections of a production defect affecting 737 Max 8 aircraft, Boeing said on Thursday. The planemaker in August identified a new quality problem with its popular 737 MAX aircraft involving supplier Spirit that resulted in improperly drilled holes on the aft pressure bulkhead made using an automated drill. Spirit said it continues working closely with Boeing to address rework related to the aft pressure bulkhead. Deliveries of Boeing's best-selling 737 MAX fell in September to the lowest level since August 2021 as it continues struggling with work needed to correct the manufacturing defect.

This includes four European carriers: Air Serbia, Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, and Belarus' Belavia. Emirates' flight path from Dubai to Los Angeles on September 25 showed it flew over Russian airspace. Looking at the time of writing for mid-November, a ticket on Air India is nearly $2,000 cheaper than American. This was a particular concern earlier this year when Chinese airlines were using Russian airspace on routes to the US.

The provisional deal includes both the A350-900 and the larger A350-1000 models, and the aircraft will be delivered between 2026 and 2030, the airline group said in a statement. The planned order, which is not yet in the Airbus books pending a final contract, comes on top of an existing order for 41 Airbus A350-900s for the group's French network, Air France, of which 22 have so far been delivered. From Boeing it has outstanding order for five 787-10s jets.

South Korean companies repatriated a record $33.13 billion of overseas earnings during the January-July period, 6.3 times the amount a year earlier, central bank data on current account balances showed. "The coming home of earnings retained abroad has been a big help for the won," a government official in charge of foreign exchange market said, asking not to be named due to internal policy. The automaker said on June 12 it plans to invest 7.8 trillion won ($5.82 billion) of retained earnings from overseas operations this year in electric car factories at home. The surge in repatriation also comes ahead of trading reforms planned for next year, when South Korea will extend onshore trading hours until 2 a.m. to improve access for foreign investors.
