CNN —A Federal Emergency Management Agency employee has been removed from her role after she advised her disaster relief team to avoid homes with signs supporting President Donald Trump while canvassing in Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, the agency said Friday. A FEMA spokesperson told CNN in a statement the agency is “deeply disturbed by this employee’s actions” and the incident is under investigation. The agency did not identify the employee. Of course not, especially when its comeback came after Florida had to turn to its third-string quarterback. Merchan could sentence Trump to probation or up to 4 years on each count in state prison, with a maximum of 20 years. The New York case is no different. Shortly after Trump was convicted, his attorney Todd Blanche asked Merchan for an acquittal of the charges notwithstanding the guilty verdict. CNN —A six-week ban on abortion set to take effect in Florida next month will severely limit abortion access in a state that is one of the country’s most populous and one that has become a key access point amid widespread restrictions in the region. In South Carolina, there was a 70% decrease in abortions just one month after the state enforced a six-week limit. Florida will join Georgia and South Carolina with a six-week ban. “This six-week ban leaves an even narrower window for people to access care, and I think it’s going to be too late for so many. “We plan to remain open and continue to provide abortion care as long as we can,” she said.

Prosecutors in Trump's classified documents fired back at Judge Aileen Cannon. Jack Smith's team says her order for jury instructions was "fundamentally flawed." In their response, prosecutors raised the prospect of taking her order to a higher court to stop it. The Florida Supreme Court issued a separate ruling on Monday that could energize Democrats’ efforts to hold Trump to account on abortion. The ex-president has long been wary of taking a definitive stand against abortion rights. But some Republicans are infringing the spirit of the Supreme Court ruling – which sent the issue back to individual states – by pushing for a national ban. And Democrats believe they have an issue, in abortion rights, that could thwart him – despite Biden’s own unpopularity. Democrats are delighted since they have had considerable success in using ballot initiatives to protect abortion rights or reject further restrictions.

Former President Donald Trump trounced Nikki Haley in her home state of South Carolina's primary. And if Trump does as well as his campaign predicts, he could secure the GOP nomination by March 12. Haley was left as the sole remaining major candidate to oppose Trump in January after Florida Gov. South Carolina's Republican delegates are uniquely not bound to a specific candidate post-primary election, making it difficult to calculate the exact number of delegates each candidate will finish with. If Trump and his reelection campaign continue down their established path of dominant primary victories, he'll be incredibly close to blazing past the majority mark he needs to secure the Republican nomination.

Digital World’s share price spiked 88% to 19-month highs on Monday alone. Since Trump’s landslide victory in the Iowa caucuses on January 15, Digital World shares have more than tripled. That in turn drives the share price even higher, creating further losses for short-sellers. Jay Ritter, a finance professor at the University of Florida, expressed shock at the stock spike for Digital World. Read previewThe Iowa Caucuses in mid-January marked the beginning of the primary season for the Republican Party. And while it's the only event that's even been completed thus far, party officials have already dubbed former President Donald Trump as the "presumptive nominee." Rep. Voters in New Hampshire are casting the first primary votes of the 2024 presidential election in more than 300 voting locations across the Granite State. New Hampshire Secretary of State David Scalan said he expects turnout will exceed 400,000 voters, with the lion's share of those ballots being cast in the Republican primary. If those trends hold, the first Republican primary of the cycle could end up being the party's last competitive nominating contest this year. And with around 40% of voters neither a registered Republican nor a Democrat, the state is still far from a done deal for Trump. The party's incumbent, President Joe Biden, is not on the ballot, and the results will not affect delegate allocations later this year.

Donald Trump won the New Hampshire primary Tuesday night, fending off a solid challenge from former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and putting him on a clear path to win the Republican nomination for president. Trump's win was historic, in that he became the first non-incumbent Republican to win both the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary in the same year. Ron DeSantis dropped out of the race and joined other former GOP presidential hopefuls in endorsing Trump. The Associated Press called the race for Trump at 8 p.m. With 23% of votes counted shortly afterward, Trump had 53% support compared with 47% for Haley.

But she must still prove she can make a head-to-head duel with the ex-president last through Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary and beyond, after Florida Gov. But Haley faces an existential question for her own campaign Tuesday. “They’re all all coming with us,” Trump noted with satisfaction at a rally in Rochester, New Hampshire, on Sunday night. An unexpectedly high turnout of undeclared voters powered late Arizona Sen. John McCain to a shock victory in the 2000 GOP primary against George W. Bush. But Haley’s problem is that most Republican voters may not want what she’s offering.

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has been throwing harder punches at GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, days before her make-or-break New Hampshire primary on Tuesday. The former U.N. ambassador on Sunday took shots at Trump's mental acuity, his cozy relations with foreign dictators and his position as an establishment figure. Haley took aim at Trump's mental fitness after footage from one of his rallies showed him attributing the Jan. 6 insurrection to Haley, repeating her name four times, apparently mistaking her for former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Dedicating her talking points to Trump attacks is a marked shift from Haley, who prior to the Iowa caucuses had primarily gone after Florida Gov. "If you want to talk about Trump, if you really want to talk about Trump, why don't you go ask him if he's gonna get on a debate stage?"

CNN —The US Senate Budget Committee is launching an investigation into whether Florida’s state-backed home and property insurance company has enough money in the bank to withstand future disasters, as scientists warn warming oceans and sea level rise are making storms more destructive. Citizens Property Insurance Corporation exists as a so-called insurer of last resort - if owners cannot convince a private insurance company to cover their property, Citizens will step in. If that were to happen, the Senate Budget Committee is worried Florida might turn to the federal government looking for a bailout, Whitehouse said. Then Biden got specific and personal, saying Trump had the idea that the president is above the law and has "no limits" on his power. The president – who does not typically mention Trump by name, especially in non-campaign speeches – started reading some of Trump's actual quotes.
