Michigan and Wisconsin are looking like the best of the bunch for Harris, according to the campaign’s internal numbers. As pumped as Harris aides are about her debate performance earlier this week, they don’t think it changed any of that. “There’s a quiet confidence and security in what we’re doing and the mission, but no one thinks we have this in the bag,” said a Harris campaign aide. We’ll definitely be having some fun,” an Obama aide told CNN. The former president will kick off his work at a fundraiser he’s hosting for Harris next week in Los Angeles.

I'm a management and senior policy analyst at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Washington, DC. After transitioning from military to civilian life in 2012, I worked as a policy analyst and technical writer at Sage Management. I love my new role and would've left to pursue a fully remote role if this didn't happen at HUD. I work around these challenges by building relationships with other program offices within HUD to collaborate and get the work done. Within the HUD Veterans Affinity Group, we established the Women's Group to talk monthly with and support women veterans.

Ms. Harris dropped in on each one, in descending order of price and intimacy, as donors enjoyed peach mimosas and shrimp cocktails before her remarks in the grand ballroom. The Harris campaign is immediately being more intentional at courting this community, dispatching aides to meet with affinity groups representing venture capitalists and the cryptocurrency industry. And she has hired additional fund-raising aides with ties to the Bay Area who helped organize Sunday’s event. Ms. Harris also has connections that Mr. Biden simply does not. Buttigieg isn’t the only politician to exit a Democratic presidential primary with an enduring army of online super fans. “Team Pete” didn’t disappear, but the “veepstakes” reactivated his supporters, said Mike Schmuhl, Buttigieg’s 2020 campaign manager. This week, though, he joined the list of vice presidential hopefuls to cancel a planned event with limited explanation. They reject the idea that America isn’t ready for a major-party ticket featuring both a Black woman and the first out gay vice presidential pick. “I definitely think in my lifetime he will be on a ticket,” said Brandon Neal, a Democratic strategist and senior adviser to the 2020 campaign.

CNN —Two presidential task forces formed to recommend how Harvard can combat antisemitism and anti-Muslim, anti-Arab and anti-Palestinian activity on campus have spoken: Harvard needs to act now. Harvard needs to do more work to promote diversity education and promote multiple perspectives on campus, the task force chairs recommended. The antisemitism task force sought to get Harvard to clarify its values, act against discrimination and hate, improve the university’s disciplinary process, promote dialogue and training on the topic and support Jewish life on campus. Alan Garber, Harvard’s interim president, said he appreciated the recommendations and the task forces’ candor. And the House Education Committee lambasted the university for its response to a subpoena seeking information on how it handled campus protests.

That’s one reason why it’s notable that a new study finds a full 40% of Hispanic and Latino/a professionals in corporate America say they feel it is necessary to change aspects of themselves to succeed at work. “Our findings illuminate hurdles Hispanic and Latino professionals face, including the undue pressure to mask their authentic selves and heritage in pursuit of success,” said Coqual CEO Lanaya Irvin. They were also based on virtual focus groups and interviews with 100 Hispanic and Latino/a professionals and experts. When Hispanic professionals get their foot in the door, or even get promoted, many still find they are stereotyped, overlooked or underappreciated. In addition, the think tank encourages companies to focus more on increasing diversity, strengthening sponsorships of Hispanic professionals and endorsing and funding affinity groups.

Taylor Swift fans are entering their cruise era. The travel agency Marvelous Mouse Travels announced it's organizing a fan-led cruise group for "Swifties" to come together and celebrate the singer and their fandom. The cruise, which is not actually affiliated with Taylor Swift herself, will take place aboard the Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas ship next fall. Malerman happened to be wearing a Taylor Swift shirt one of the days and the rest, they say, is history. Taylor Swift will not be present for this fan-led experience.

AdvertisementAdvertisementThis has been a bit of a secret, but when I applied to Yale, I chose to apply as an African American-studies major on a whim. Regardless, part of me thinks I got in because I'm Black and chose the smaller major of African American studies. I'm now working extra hard to prove I belong at Yale. The fact that I didn't get into Princeton made me think my Yale acceptance wasn't guaranteed. I could have edged out a more qualified candidate who was not a person of color because I'm Black.

Work friendships are not just a benefit to employees, but also the companies they work for, according to Gallup CEO Jon Clifton. Clifton notes that work friendships reduce employee turnover, speed up communication and especially in blue-collar environments, reduce safety incidents. CNBC Make It talked to employees and experts on navigating workplace friendships. The August survey from Qualtrics found that 70% of employees in remote and hybrid work environments have close work friendships. At her last job, Nixon felt like she could at least talk to her coworkers about these experiences — at her current job, not so much.
The current hiring market is competitive, but companies can take steps to attract Gen Z job seekers. When looking for job opportunities, Gen Zers — those currently under the age of 26 — will be attentive to things that may not have been prioritized by previous generations. Talent-development expert Chelsea Williams, whose national workforce and development company Reimagine Talent works closely with many Gen Z professionals, shared six things companies need to prioritize in order to stand out to Gen Z job seekers. Connect job applicants with new Gen Z hires as much as you can during the interview and hiring process. Gen Zers want to see that you're changing things up — and you'll find stronger applicants when you do.
The new cultural liberalism in the media reflects the views of senior staff members and is opposed by affinity groups and young employees. That’s important, because surveys consistently find that “woke” values are twice as prevalent among younger leftists than among older leftists. Over eight in 10 undergraduates at 150 leading U.S. colleges say speakers who say B.L.M. What’s more, seven in 10 think a professor who says something that students find offensive should be reported to their university. First, the media is, by definition, an outward-facing, audience-driven enterprise, dependent on some kind of mass market for its viability.

Create a law department DEI committee consisting of diverse law department employees to:evaluate the law department’s DEI status; develop a plan and a budget to increase or maintain law department diversity; and monitor and promote the success of the law department’s DEI initiatives. Incentivize law department employees to refer diverse candidates for job openings by paying them a referral bonus if the law department hires those candidates. Retaining Diverse Law Department EmployeesWhile recruiting and hiring diverse employees for the law department requires continuous effort, retaining them once hired presents another challenge. Discuss initiatives the law department has taken to increase and maintain DEI in the law department, such as creating a DEI hiring committee. (For more on how law departments can improve DEI at their outside law firms, see Increasing Law Firm Diversity and Increasing Law Firm Diversity: Presentation Materials on Practical Law; for general guidance on working with outside counsel, see Working Effectively with Outside Counsel Checklist on Practical Law.)

Some companies, such as P&G, have introduced programs to recruit and retain neurodivergent candidates. Lakes' experience is not uncommon among neurodivergent individuals, which is a term that represents people with neurological types like autism, dyslexia, or ADHD. Workplace culture is beginning to shiftThere's some change on the horizon. "Right now, organizations are doing the groundwork," Lyric Rivera, who identifies as neurodivergent, told Insider. Company culture can support neurodivergent employeesWhile many companies offer programs to support existing neurodivergent employees, advocates like Rivera say the next step is to get more neurodivergent candidates in the door.
Sahra Nguyen is the founder and CEO of Nguyen Coffee Supply, which sells Vietnamese coffee. On social media, I can share ideas for ways to enjoy our beans and insights into how to use our specialty-coffee equipment. I can show behind-the-scenes shots of the Vietnamese coffee farmers we work with directly and explain why Vietnamese coffee is so special. We sought out food publications to discuss why Vietnamese coffee deserved a rebrand and what it could offer serious coffee lovers. So we eventually started to add in paid advertising on Instagram, Facebook, and Google to scale our message to newer audiences.
Formal organizations like the Oath Keepers no longer define the American right-wing landscape. If Biden’s election was illegitimate, the Oath Keepers were ready to defend Trump’s legitimate one. And indeed, the trial has revealed the brazenness of the Oath Keepers, as well as some profound shifts happening in the American right. The evidence of a seditious conspiracy introduced in the Oath Keepers’ trial was damning, yet obvious. While certainly more polished, some of Masters’ talking points would not be out of place at an Oath Keepers meeting.
David Solomon is working hard to build up David Solomon. On a Friday in late July, the Goldman Sachs CEO boarded the company's Gulfstream G650 for Chicago. And that's the latest in a string of actions showing the intertwining interests of David Solomon the CEO and chairman and the interests of Goldman Sachs itself, my colleague Dakin Campbell reports. Staffers say they've been asked to help with his DJ account and they've noted a new emphasis on sports endorsements. Millennium Management tapped Goldman Sachs alum Olga Naumovich to build out its Miami tech hub.
His company Reynen Court is now looking to raise $5 million using a provision of the JOBS Act. More recently, Klein, who lives in Amsterdam, has been growing Reynen Court. The company launched in 2018 with financial backing from a consortium of large law firms, including Latham & Watkins and Clifford Chance. Klein said Reynen Court really took off once he was able to persuade 20 of the world's largest law firms to begin using the platform. If the offering succeeds, Reynen Court expects to go forward with a series B fundraising next year, Klein said.
