I recently went on my first cruise with my parents, sister, and grandmother. I'd never been on a cruise before and was surprised that there were things for all of us to enjoy. Neither had my parents or my sister, but my grandmother — my nan — often travels by cruise ship, so we decided to join her on a cruise. We decided on a trip to the Norwegian fjords, which we all wanted to see, and traveled on the 5,206-capacity Iona — the UK's largest cruise ship until 2022. First, it was just me and my parents, and then my sister was born shortly before my ninth birthday. Over the next six years, I went on a few trips with friends, my girlfriend, and my university. And my parents and sister had all traveled at least once separately too, whether for work, school, or leisure. And, I learned more about the sort of things my parents are planning for when both of their children are adults. While my parents work on computers and are by no means technophobes, I was able to make the trip with my dad easier by having an app for everything.
